Le Nozze di Figaro

Le nozze di Figaro is an Italian opera, composed by a German and acclimatized from a French play, all of which accomplish it simple to overlook the work’s aboriginal Spanish setting. But the busy Moorish sets for Michael Grandage’s new Glyndebourne assembly put Spain durably to the fore, casting abreast the 18th aeon in favour of brawny affaire in a 1960s country villa, about alfresco Seville.

Transposing the activity of Figaro to Franco’s Spain is not a new idea. Ian Judge’s 2004 analysis for LA Opera aswell explored this period, anecdotic the accustomed parallels amid the amusing and political tensions of the dictator’s bang years and those arch up to the French Revolution. With change just above the neatly-trimmed hedges adjoining the Almaviva estate, abundance and balance bless an afraid achievement in the anachronistic rites of the advantaged classes.

As the Overture struts to a assertive abutting and Count and Countess cull up in their open-top sports car (a scene-stealing antitoxin to the abounding animals on the opera date in London recently) it becomes bright that music and ball aren’t absolutely in accord here. While Robin Ticciati and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment action a absolutely chaste account (the climaxes of the Overture are rarely outdone by the pianissimos), Christopher Oram’s sets are a connected ability in their balance – all Alhambra arches and intricate circuitous tiles. Both about administer to asphyxiate out the affecting artifice on stage.Heat recovery ventilators including domestic home Ventilation system.

Grandage seems bent to adios the sitcom-style operatic ball currently in vogue, opting instead for a aerial accuracy whose gestures assume almost to ability above the orchestra pit.Welcome to the online guide for do-it-yourself Ceramic tile. The consistent ball is hard-won (blunted generally by atrociously truncated and inexact subtitles), never absolutely accomplishing the breeze that Mozart’s account demands, and accepting knock-on appulse for some too-heavy recitatives. It’s no disaster, but accustomed this cast, aqueduct and beheld ambience we could so calmly accept had so abundant more.

Characterisation succeeds best in the abate roles, advance Isabel Leonard’s gorgeously-sung Cherubino with awkward awkwardness, and transforming Don Basilio (Alan Oke) into a prancing poseur.Handpainted oil paintings for sale on Canvas. The affair amid Andrew Shore’s Bartolo (the affecting high-point of the evening) and Ann Murray’s Marcellina is aswell a delight.

Despite the bouncy décor and the agreeable Pucci-print of her own outfits, Sally Matthews’s Countess achieves the abrupt calmness the role requires, abominable us out of the bright affray of Susanna and Figaro with both “Porgi amor” and “Dove sono” and into the altogether added terminal amusement of her marriage.

Thanks to the some rather under-projected performances from Vito Priante’s Figaro and Audun Iversen as the Count (the closing all but benign, so animated is his seduction), greater than accepted accent avalanche aloft the artful women – weight that both Matthews and Lydia Teuscher (Susanna) administer to bear. Teuscher’s accurate articulate supply is at its best in the aboriginal two acts, acceptable the antic artifice but never absolutely afterward through with the darker affections of Act Four.

There’s a ferocity, a beastly activity to Figaro that bliss adjoin the common conventions of its setting. Here, in the area of an English country house, Mozart’s own acreage struggles to locate this, clearing too calmly instead into a affable drawing-room farce. Accepting set up a actual ambience of such resonance and specificity,We are authorized company by SINOTRUK. Le nozze di Figaro is an opera with a appropriate history for Glyndebourne – accepting opened the anniversary aback in 1934 and accustomed some 500 performances in the amid years. With 12 years back Graham Vick’s production, all eyes (and ears) were on Grandage and Ticciati to bear a account for a new generation. While endemic could still be the assembly we’ve been cat-and-mouse for, as yet it isn’t quite.

Louisiana Tech Eco-marathon Entry Enters Crunch Time

Our journey to Houston 2012 is well underway! This year our team is bringing three cars: a new gasoline prototype vehicle named ThunderDawg, a new diesel urban concept vehicle called HotRod, and the current American record holder urban concept vehicle – Roadster. We have a great team of over twenty people and over half of these people are new members! It is truly great to see our team continue to grow.

Since two of our cars are new,Welcome to the online guide for do-it-yourself Ceramic tile. we have designed and fabricated them from the ground up. Through the summer and the early part of the school year, our team worked on designing the two new vehicles: HotRod and ThunderDawg.

For HotRod, we took the design for Roadster and altered it in such ways to increase fuel efficiency. We narrowed the front end of the vehicle and removed some weight from the body. By decreasing the frontal area and the weight of the vehicle, we hope to achieve great gas mileage.

As for ThunderDawg, one of our team members spent months designing the body of this vehicle. The body, consisting of its curves and shapes, is truly a work of art.Wireless Indoor Positioning System have become very popular in the system.

Today is the two and a half week mark until we leave for the Shell Eco-marathon Competition. We have officially entered, as we call it, “Crunch Time.” Our team has been working around the clock to have our cars completed for March 29th, the day we depart for Shell Eco-marathon Americas.

After returning from the competition last year, we have a made a few improvements to Roadster, such as replacing the rear lights. Besides needing to attach a newly designed and fabricated windshield wiper, Roadster is ready to take the journey to Houston for the SEMA Competition.

So far, we have made great progress on our two new cars. In early December, we used our three axis foam router to cut out the body of HotRod. By mid January, we have completed applying the carbon fiber to our body. Also in mid January, we cut out the body for ThunderDawg. By the end of January, the body of ThunderDawg had been completely covered in carbon fiber.

Since then, the engine chassis for both HotRod and Thunderdawg have been designed and welded together. Meanwhile, a few of our team members have been diligently working on the fuel injection system for ThunderDawg.Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising, It definitely looks promising this year!

Both HotRod and ThunderDawg have been making great progress. We have been completing the layout of all engine components, the steering system, the brakes, and many more aspects. Our team is making great progress on both cars and hope to have them each to paint in the next week. Our team is very much looking forward to the upcoming competition and will definitely remain in our hardworking “Crunch Time” mode to have our vehicles ready to compete!

We have officially reached our two week mark! Reaching this two week mark entails an exciting yet nervous feeling for all of our team members. We are so excited for the competition to be getting closer, but at the same time we are concerned with how much work must be completed in order for our cars to be up to the Louisiana Tech University standard that we pride ourselves in. Having been making such great strides in progress for both cars lately, we know that completing these cars for the competition is definitely possible.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,

For the past two days, we have continued to make progress on our vehicles. As for both cars,An Air purifier is a device which removes contaminants from the air. the windshield molds are in the process of being made. HotRod’s windshield mold was completed today (March 15th), and ThunderDawg’s windshield should be completed by this weekend.

As for ThunderDawg, our team has been working very hard on the steering. This year, we are going with a rear steered vehicle. This is a new adventure for us since all of our previous cars have been front wheel steered vehicles. We hope to have the steering operating by this weekend.

For these two days, many things for HotRod have been in the works. We have officially installed the ignition in HotRod. This is a great step in the right direction to having the car ready for competition. Also, one of our members has been working on finishing the wheel pods, which include being able to attach and unattach them from the car and making sure the tires do not come in contact with them when making a turn. Lastly, we have been working on recessing the rear lights into the body of the vehicle. We are working for a smooth finish in the transition from the body to the cover of the lights and back to the body.

Google Wallet

It may not be out, but it is down. Google Wallet has had a tough week, as multiple security flaws – targeting the pre-paid card portion of the tool – have emerged.

The upshot: Google has “temporarily disabled provisioning of prepaid cards. We took this step as a precaution until we issue a permanent fix soon,” according to a blog post by Osama Bedier,Information on useful yeasts and moulds, vice president, Google Wallet and Payments.

An innovative payments tool, Google Wallet – which debuted in September – is designed to serve both as an online payments method (similar to PayPal) but also as a wave-and-pay tool on smartphones that feature Near Field Communications. In announcing Google Wallet, the company pulled no punches in positioning it as the digital replacement to physical wallets.

Zvelo, a security research outfit, has disclosed that a brute force attack on a rooted smartphone could reveal the owner’s Google Wallet PIN – which would put the hacker in control of that Google Wallet.

The Smartphone Champ soon revealed a more devastating flaw. Said the researchers there, “The security flaw is painfully easy to do and requires no extra software nor does it require root. All a person who wants to access your Google Wallet has to do is go into the application settings menu and clear the data for the Google Wallet app. After doing that your Google Wallet app will be reset and will prompt for you to set a new PIN the next time you open it. The problem here is that since Google Wallet is tied to the device itself and not tied to your Google account, that once they set the new PIN and log into the app, when they add the Google prepaid card it will add the card that is tied to that device.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, In other words, they’d be able to add your card and have full access to your funds. “

Google, for its part, insisted: “Google Wallet offers advantages over the plastic cards and folded wallets in use today.” Just Choose PTMS Injection Mold Is Your Best Choice!

Bedier, in his blog, added: “Mobile payments are going to become more common in the coming years, and we will learn much more as we continue to develop Google Wallet. In the meantime, you can be confident that the digital wallet you carry provides defenses that plastic and leather simply don’t.”

Experts appear to believe that, probably, this is simply a bump in the road towards wider Google Wallet deployment. The magic cube is an ultra-portable, But there also appears to be a gathering sense that Google will need to decisively reassure users about security issues going forward.

Strangers no more

Bobbie Cather is religious about her morning power walks in Poland.

She wears a 20-pound walking vest. Each hand grips 6-pound dumbbells. She carves a 3-mile path through the village in the wee hours of the morning before most of Poland has awakened.

And with her is her beloved pit bull, Diamond.

The only sign of life the two typically encounter, Bobbie said, is the car of Phillip Motton, a Vindicator newspaper carrier.

They never talked. But each knew the other’s routine — strangers who weren’t quite strangers.

Two weeks ago,China yiri mould is a professional manufacturer which integrates Plastic Mould design and manufacture and plastic product development. in the pouring rain, she was suddenly left powerless on her power walk.

Diamond had seen a rabbit or squirrel or something, guesses Bobbie, and jerked suddenly to begin the chase. That threw Bobbie off balance and to the ground.

Her arm snapped immediately.

“I was in horrible, horrible pain,” she said. She would find out later that the impact of the fall snapped her arm in two — right below the socket bone that connects to the shoulder.

(It’s OK to grab your arm now. I did. That injury is unimaginable.)

She was just 150 yards or so from her home, but was unable to move from the pain. The rain continued to pound; Diamond continued to bark.

Her neighborhood was dark. Her husband was showering for work. And even if he was not in the shower, Bobbie did not bring her phone that morning.

Then, down the road, she saw the not-quite-the-stranger stranger. Phillip’s headlights reflected down the dark street.

She knew she had to cross the street to get his attention. She crossed the road — her arm dangling.

“I’d seen her before on her walks, but I’d never spoken to her,” said Phillip, verifying that Bobbie and Diamond are quite the power walkers.

“She had these weights in her hands — always pumping.”

When he saw her that rainy morning, she was in tears and in a lot of pain.

“Ma’am — are you all right,” is what Bobbie recalls hearing from Phillip.

Here’s where you should pause to consider some of the realities of that morning, as Bobbie points out:

It’s pouring rain in the morning darkness. The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, He’s a young black guy with many deliveries to make. “Not many people are going to do that,” she said. Bobbie admitted she’s not even a subscriber to The Vindy.

Helping wasn’t an issue for Motton.

The pit bull was.

“It was just bravery, I guess,” he said of facing the barking dog. “I overlooked my fear. She was in so much pain, so I just took a chance.”

Diamond was a champ.

Bobbie handed Diamond’s leash to Phillip and he walked the dog down to Bobbie’s house.

He ran back to Bobbie and called her husband and 911. He wrapped Bobbie in a plastic tarp he had in his car to shield the rain.

There’s a light moment at this point:

Phillip said he tied Diamond up to the van in the driveway.

We don’t have a van, said Bobbie.

Phillip was one house off.

When Bobbie’s husband arrived, Phillip ran back down to unstrap the dog from the neighbor’s van.

Within 30 minutes, Phillip was back on his route — the ambulance, police and Bobbie’s husband all taking over the heroics.

But they were strangers no more.

Last Sunday, with pins and plates holding her arm together, Bobbie had Phillip over to her home for a visit. She became more understanding of the size of Phillip’s heart.

In their South Side Youngstown home, Phillip and his mom are raising his two nephews, ages 8 and 9. It was unintended, said Phillip.Alfa plast mould is Plastic moulds Manufacturer and plastics Mould Exporters in India since 1992,

“I like to get on the road. It’s soothing and peaceful,” Phillip said.

Bobbie, whose walks with Diamond will be sidelined for quite a while as she recovers, is just grateful he was on the road that morning.

“You hear so many bad things about people these days,” Bobbie said.

“He never flinched.”

The dilemma of creating and cutting solar jobs

Both job creation and layoffs are particularly sensitive topics during a weak economy, let alone an election year when candidates all claim to have the best antidotes to put people back to work. So the layoffs of about 200 out of roughly 300 workers at Amonix’s North Las Vegas solar equipment factory this month raised questions not just about the company’s well being but also its promise to bring lots of jobs to the local economy.

Through its manufacturing service provider, Flextronics, Amonix cut its staffing at the factory by two-thirds so that it could modify the production equipment for making a new product later this year. From Amonix’s point view, the company, backed by Kleiner Perkins, is doing what is necessary to make a new product that it plans to launch later this year, said Carla Pihowich, vice president of marketing and government affairs, on Tuesday.Daneplast Limited UK are plastic injection mould & toolmaking specialists. The plan is to start hiring more people in the second half of this year, she said. “It’s really a temporary scale-down only to scale back up,” she said.

The California-based company designs giant solar panels mounted on a mechanical arm to track the sun’s movement throughout the day. Inside each panel is a series of modules that contain lenses that concentrate the sunlight up to 500 times onto solar cells to produce power. The current panel runs 77-foot by 49-foot and produces 60 KW. Amonix won’t provide details about its new system until it’s ready to launch it,Overview description of rapid Tooling processes.Smooth-On is your source for Mold Making and casting materials including silicone rubber and urethane rubber, Pihowich said.

Factory re-tooling is a common step for any manufacturer who wants to roll out new products, cut manufacturing costs or both. The changes at Amonix’s plan will include “a bit more automation” to make solar energy equipment that will be more efficient at converting sunlight into electricity and cost less, Pihowich said. The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free,

She also noted that the time is right to make the transition partly because it has completed delivery for a major project – a 30 MW solar farm being built in Colorado by Cogentrix that received a $90.6 million federal loan guarantee.

Amonix held an opening ceremony for its $18 million factory only in May last year. So it’s making a big change in staff and machinery only after having operated for a relatively short period of time. That certainly doesn’t look good, particularly when many local and state political leaders who, along with the company, were eager to tout the jobs the new factory would provide less than a year ago. Its then CEO, Brian Robertson,A mold or molds is a hollowed-out block that is filled with a liquid like plastic, who died during an airplane crash right before Christmas, said at the time that the company had committed to creating 278 jobs but ended up hiring roughly 300 workers for the factory.

But will the company re-fill the job count back to around 300? That’s not for certain. Amonix promises to re-hire more people starting in the second half of this year. The number of new hires will depend on sales and shipment demand from customers, but Pihowich declined to give an estimate on how many.

For those who felt fortunate to have lined up work at the factory, the layoff announcement was crushing. As Las Vegas Sun reported, some workers felt blindsided by how short-term their employment turned out to be. A local official told the paper that workers were brought on to handle a major project, so the positions were supposed to be temporary.

Amonix will need many more large orders to keep its factory going for the long run. The company declined to talk about the status of other projects and contracts, however. It’s worth noting that the company opened the factory during a year when the solar market experienced a glut of conventional solar panels and saw wholesale prices for them falling by 40-50 percent. That affected the sales of other types of solar technologies as well.

So if re-tooling the factory and reducing payrolls are necessary to maintain the company’s health and its growth, then they certainly need to be done. But the process comes at the expense of those who were counting on Amonix for more, not fewer, job.

Homeowners furious over solar panels rip-off after company goes out of business

Furious homeowners fear they have lost hundreds of pounds to a solar energy company that has gone out of business.

Money Mail has received dozens of emails and letters from angry readers who paid 500 each to Energy Saving Group to have solar panels fitted. All complain they have received neither panels nor cash refunds.

Customers say ESG had promised to slash their fuel bills if they had the solar panels installed.

They were told their homes would benefit from the solar energy generated, while the firm would pocket a government subsidy, called the feed-in tariff, which is paid for extra energy generated and sold back to the grid. This promised payments of 43.3p per kWh of energy generated and sold back. Last month, the tariff was slashed to 21p.

This type of offer is not unusual — and is commonly known as a ‘rent-a-roof’ scheme.

But fears are growing that thousands of homeowners across Britain may have lost hundreds of pounds after being enticed by solar panel salesmen.

Money Mail has come across dozens of cases where ESG customers have had to wait for months for panels to be fitted after making payments. In a letter sent in August, many who had requested refunds were told ESG was unable to pay back money to its thousands of customers all at once, but that they would be contacted when it was their turn.

However, customers say emails and telephone calls to the address ESG uses in Redditch, Worcs, have gone unanswered. Some who contacted ESG in December have received letters telling them the firm has now gone out of business.

And Money Mail can reveal two of the directors of Energy Saving Improvements Limited,Daneplast Limited UK are plastic injection mould & toolmaking specialists. which trades as Energy Saving Group, are running another energy sales company called Energy Reduction Surveying Limited.

They are Steven Dickson, 33, who gives his address for both companies as Bromsgrove, Worcs; and James Manley, 34, from Hockley, Solihull. According to files lodged at Companies House, Energy Reduction Surveying Limited is registered at the Business Centre in Edward Street, Redditch.

The company trades under the name Energy Reduction UK. ESG is registered in Billesley, Birmingham.

When Money Mail called Energy Reduction UK, it said it was taking orders for solar panels, which it would install free or for 199.

Many of the people who have lost money with ESG are pensioners on limited incomes who were persuaded to order the panels by door-to-door salesmen. The Transaction Group offers the best high risk merchant account services, Others followed up adverts in local newspapers. The customers left out of pocket include 74-year-old Peter Conyers and his wife Shirley,The magic cube is an ultra-portable, 65, from Norwich,Shop at Lowe's for garage Ceramic tile, who ordered their panels just under a year ago.

The couple, who rely on just one state pension between them as their only income, paid 500 for panels after seeing a newspaper advert.

Mr Conyers, a former sheet metal worker, says: ‘We waited four weeks and then six weeks, but there was always another excuse from ESG about why the panels couldn’t be fitted. We really can’t afford to lose this money. We only paid it because we thought there would be a saving in the long term.’

Consumer groups have warned of vulnerable people being scammed by promises that solar energy could save them hundreds of pounds. Campaign group Consumer Focus warns that people who want to fit solar panels should order them only from companies registered under the REAL Assurance Scheme.

They should also only sign a contract certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme .

Always make sure you get at least three quotes from different companies before signing a contract.

You also have the right to change your mind within seven days, but make sure you don’t lose this option by signing a waiver. Liz Laine,Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. energy expert at Consumer Focus, says:

‘Solar panels can save consumers money, but unfortunately there is bad practice in this industry, as in any other, and we know consumers have lost out through the actions of this company.

‘Our advice is that if it feels like pressure selling, it is.’

Trading Standards, which is investigating ESG, says customers must wait until the company is dissolved before they can make a claim for their cash.

Money Mail received separate statements from Mr Manley and Mr Dickson.

Mr Manley says he set up Energy Reduction UK alone — although Mr Dickson is listed as a director — because he did not agree with the way that ESG’s customers were being treated by third-party installers.

‘He says he cannot comment on any issues relating to ESG.

Mr Dickson says ESG stopped trading in December. However, records at Companies House show its status as ‘still active’.

He says its liquidators will do everything possible to recover this debt in order to repay Energy Saving Group’s creditors, which includes customers who are owed refunds.

VA GOP establishment backs Romney; McDonnell still mum

The Virginia GOP establishment Thursday bestowed two more endorsements on Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney, who has expressed interest in a nod for vice president, stayed on the sidelines.

McDonnell doesn’t want to be “on the wrong side of the fence,” if the former Massachusetts governor is not the eventual nominee, said Michael McDonald, a political science professor at George Mason University in Fairfax.

“I don’t see the benefit, especially someone who’s been discussed as being a vice presidential nominee,” McDonald said.

In August, McDonnell told Politico he would be interested in joining the No. 2 spot on the Republican ticket, although he was “not looking for the call.”

McDonnell press secretary Jeff Caldwell told Virginia Statehouse News on Thursday that the governor would consider the spot, if it is offered, but state issues are his primary focus.

Virginians will cast their presidential primary ballots March 6, and McDonnell has “no plans right now to make an endorsement” before or after that date, Caldwell said.

McDonnell could be a smart pick for Romney, McDonald said, because “he knows how to run a campaign based on the economy,” offers conservative credentials and has a reputation for fiscal responsibility.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,

Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling has thrown his support behind Romney, saying in a statement that he would serve as the former Massachusetts governor’s Virginia campaign chairman, and he is “absolutely convinced that (Romney) is the right person to carry our party’s banner into the 2012 campaigns.”

Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore joined the Romney camp Thursday. “No other candidate in the race has a more detailed plan to get Americans back to work or has a laid out a vision for America’s role in the world,” Gilmore said in a statement.

Bearing Drift, the popular, statewide conservative opinion blog, supports Romney as well.

McDonnell, however,Take a walk on the natural side with stunning and luxurious Floor tiles from The Tile Shop. still is looking carefully at all the GOP candidates and staying focused on his responsibilities as head of the commonwealth, Caldwell said.

“It’s really a calculation that you have to make, going all-in with a candidate and hoping that candidate wins,” said McDonald.

He said McDonnell’s endorsement would be useful in the general election, when Virginia is sure to be a battleground state, and choosing a candidate too soon could hurt Republican prospects.

Though Romney notched early wins in Iowa’s Jan. 3 caucus and New Hampshire’s Jan. 10 primary, he faces a socially conservative electorate in South Carolina’s Jan. 21 primary. Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul is the only GOP candidate, besides Romney, who met the requirements to appear on the primary ballot. State rules require that a candidate submit 10,000 signatures from registered Virginia voters, including at least 400 from each of the state’s 11 congressional districts.

Caldwell said the governor is leaning toward a candidate who has the title “governor,” on his resume. McDonnell said that executive experience molds a solid contender for the White House.

Paul has represented his Texas district in the U.S. House for 24 years.

A lawsuit filed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, challenging his exclusion as a violation of constitutional rights, could change the ticket in Virginia and add more candidates with executive experience. Fellow GOP hopefuls Santorum, former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman have joined the lawsuit.

“Our mutual goal is to ensure that the voting rights of the citizens of Virginia are fully protected,” said Bill Pascoe, executive executive vice president of Citizens for the Republic, a conservative group helping the candidates in their legal challenge.

Thousands Evacuated Amid Banten Deluge

Floodwaters escaping from swollen rivers have inundated thousands of homes in three districts across Banten province, and forced the closure of a section of the Jakarta-to-Merak toll road.

The districts affected were Pandeglang, Lebak and Serang, where waters as deep as five meters were recorded near the Ciujung River.

“As many as 13,755 homes in 97 villages spread over 29 subdistricts have been inundated,” Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency , said on Sunday.

The province has been experiencing heavy rains since Friday, causing the Ciujung, Ciliman, Cimandiri and Cilemer rivers to overflow.Daneplast Limited UK are plastic injection mould & toolmaking specialists.

The rains were also blamed for a landslide that destroyed a house and a one-kilometer stretch of road in Lebak.

According to Sutopo, residents of the areas worst affected by flooding were beginning to take refuge elsewhere. Although the BNPB had not yet collected data on the number of evacuees, the province’s Social Affairs Agency said families who had left their homes numbered in the thousands.

Sutopo said the BNPB was providing food, drinking water, tents and sleeping mats, but that the distribution effort was hampered by an insufficient number of boats.

Several hundred volunteers were assisting with evacuations in Lebak,MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds, where evacuees gathered in mosques, schools and village halls.

“We are continuing with evacuations because floodwaters are still swallowing up people’s homes,” Belek, a volunteer coordinator in Rangkasbitung, said on Sunday.

“We appreciate affected communities’ willingness to evacuate, which has so far meant that no-one has lost their lives in the flooding,” he said.

Volunteer emergency workers set up four coordination posts to cope with the emergency.

“Each post is staffed by 10 to 15 volunteers on 24-hour standby in case of worsening flooding,” he added.

“For the past three days of flooding we have been on an emergency footing, with help staff from the military, police, and Health Department,Offering high risk and offshore merchant account with credit card processing services.” Belek said, adding that he hoped the police’s Mobile Brigade would make its rubber boats available to rescuers.

Meanwhile the Jakarta-to-Merak toll road was shut because the Ciujung River had overflowed onto the road at the 58-km mark.

“Activity on the toll road has come to a total halt since 6 a.m. this morning because vehicles travelling from Jakarta to Merak, and vice versa, cannot proceed,” Hari Wirakusumah, a spokesman for the toll road operator, said on Sunday.

The road was covered to a depth of around 1.2 meters, Hari said,Smooth-On is your source for Mold Making and casting materials including silicone rubber and urethane rubber, adding that other sections of the roadway were being occupied by evacuees.

“We are using one lane of the toll road for people whose homes are flooded,” he said.

On Monday morning, the road was already clear and passable.

Hari said that in 2001 the same section of road was also closed due to flooding.

Banten’s Transportation Agency deployed staff to help motorists navigate an alternative route via Jalan Raya Serang.

Solar panels leave water company feeling flush

Six water treatment plants on the south coast have installed solar panels in a move that could save operator Portsmouth Water 4,000 a year in electricity costs.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,

Each site has fitted 50kW of solar panels across its reservoir roofs and adjacent land to produce electricity that will by used on-site to pump and treat water.

The scale of investment has not been revealed. However, installers Solarcentury estimated the panels will generate 42,500 units of electricity a year, resulting in payments through the feed-in tariff scheme as well as a reduction in Portsmouth Water's energy bills.

Nick Roadnight, Portsmouth Water's managing director,Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. said the company is keen to reduce its exposure to rising electricity prices.

"It is important that, as a user of energy, we look at all the potential options to reduce the amount of energy we have to take from the national grid, and at the same time look to reduce our carbon footprint without placing any risk on our ability to supply water to our customers," he said.

"The installation of solar panels on our sites achieves all of these objectives and, with around a 25-year life span, it helps the company have a more sustainable approach to energy use.The magic cube is an ultra-portable,"

Along with Homesun, Friends of the Earth and several other firms, Solarcentury has been at the centre of a long-running legal case challenging the government's plans to cut feed-in tariff incentives for solar installations with just six weeks' notice.

The company saw a number of large contracts cancelled as a result of the proposed changes, but a spokeswoman for the company said the Portsmouth Water deal may offer a template that will allow future projects to proceed, despite the expected cuts to incentives.

She told BusinessGreen there is the possibility of more similar deals in the pipeline, but declined to provide further details.

A spokesman for Portsmouth Water added that installing further panels depended on the outcome of the government's appeal against the High Court ruling on Friday.China yiri mould is a professional manufacturer which integrates Plastic Mould design and manufacture and plastic product development.Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased,

Trees - the best story keepers

There was a time when I was very young, when I used to carve a ‘hi’ in the bark of the coconut tree sitting proudly in our garden. I would come to the tree, as soon as I wake up the very next morning just to see whether the tree has written a reply ‘hi’ for me. There was no reply. But I was never disappointed, surprisingly. For the way the coconut leaves moved and rattled as if by magic whenever I touched its bark, I concluded that was its note of ‘hi’ because the tree knew no letters like me; because the tree was taught at no school. Call it a kid’s eccentricity, but I loved conversing with that tree.Tru-Form Plastics is a one-stop shop for plastic Injection Molding,

We shifted residencies then. But upon visiting our old home, with the small garden where my old friend still resides elegantly, just days prior, all my recollections were stirred. I couldn’t help but find myself soaked in a few lines of a poem written by Rabindranath Tagore -O you shaggy-headed banyan tree standing on the bank of the pond, have you forgotten the little child, like the birds that have nested in your branches and left you?

If the tree could voice out feeling, I thought, what would he say? Wouldn’t he recall the deeply secretive thoughts the little boy shared? Wouldn’t he show the wounded branches that held the swing the boy loved to rock in? Wouldn’t he still smile lovingly at the soft word-silence exchanges made betwixt the boy and his lover, back then?

That is not it. He will list every day, I am sure, sunlight failed to bathe him; every day heavy grey clouds floated above him dripping huge drops of water like bullets; every day a storm hugged him arrogantly and lightning cut sharply through his veins; every day of his growth, and yes, ours too.

Wandering in such thought, I halted at one point. When trees of this sort that have stood for decades are being wantonly cut down, as on the modern day, quite easily, is it only wood and leaves we bring down? What about the people who have touched those trees? What about the histories that are carved in those barks? What about the blood stains of the heroes who are no longer sung? What about the number of breaths in the air within them? What about the homes nested in those massive branches? What about the nourishment it willingly gifts to the fellow inhabitants of this land?

Where are we heading? In 2010 Environment Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that about 300 trees had to be destroyed to produce the number of posters being put up by each of the political candidates in their propaganda. In 2011, many trees had to sacrifice their lives to the cause of developing Colombo or in the name of beautification of the city. Let alone those of no importance as landmarks, historically and religiously, those trees that only know the dust of roads, conversations of common man and have eye witnessed every day accidents from mild to horrendous, at least those that bear a significant importance to this country should be well protected.

We have already murdered many trees of high importance till date - Historical Banyan (Nuga) tree at Denipitiya,Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, associated with the Poetess Gajaman Nona, giant Pus-wela (Woody Liana) in Hunuwila, Opanayaka, and Ebony tree,Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. Malabe both of which are famous landmarks. Recently, even the sandalwood tree, over 50 years of age at the Bandaranayake Ayurveda Research Centre (BARC), was brought down. Let us note that these are only a few examples.

The Woodland Trust, Britain, initiated a project in 2004, ‘The Ancient tree hunt’.Spro Tech has been a plastic module & Mold Maker, According to them, The Ancient Tree Hunt (ATH) involves thousands of people in finding and mapping all the fat, old trees across the UK and is right at the heart of the Woodland Trust’s ancient tree conservation work. It will create a comprehensive living database of ancient trees and it’s the first step towards cherishing and caring for them.

When a ministry spokesperson said, few months prior, regarding the construction of a road cutting through a section of the Sinharaja Forest which is a world heritage site and the only primary rain forest in Sri Lanka, “Minister Yapa is of the view that the road development across the protected forest range would damage the bio-diversity and natural habitat and therefore gave instructions to suspend it with immediate effect,” I thought to myself, we can still trust the authorities and forestry officials, to some extent, at least.

I cannot predict the fate of these beautiful story keepers - our trees. What I am certainly aware of though is the fact that, WE, together CAN boldly defend the beings that carry the country’s histories in every cube of their beings.

Returning from the long thought voyage to the present, drinking sweet coconut water welcomingly served by my coconut tree, after years of parting and meeting again, I asked finally, “have you forgotten the little child, like the birds that have nested in your branches and left you?” When the leaves moved and rattled, in that familiar tone, I got my answer, and that is enough. The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, At least for me. It is then did I pledge that I will never let him be murdered. Not in my lifetime.

Mad Max Revisited

A decade before some British hooligan stripped the bodywork off his balled-up sportbike to create the first streetfighter, a pair of Australian filmmakers went the other way, transforming naked standards into post-apocalyptic superbikes. And the results were no less badass.

In October 1977, George Miller and Byron Kennedy took a meager budget, a cast of virtual unknowns and a bunch of high-powered bikes and cars and headed off to desolate, dusty, rural Victoria. There they created Mad Max, a high-adrenaline film about a dystopian society. The movie is remembered for its stunning action scenes—largely created using nerve and seat-of-the-pants techniques—and its menacing motorcycle gang sporting stripped-down, customized bikes. So how did this vision come together?

“We had a budget of just $350,000,” explains director Miller. “Byron and I were photocopying scripts and distributing them off the back of my bike.Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. After stunts, we swept glass off the road ourselves.”

With next-to-no money, the crew had to be inventive when it came to creating the right look for the chaotic wasteland Max Rockatansky (played by a young Mel Gibson) and company inhabited.

“The producers secured 10 KZ1000s from Kawasaki Australia, which had high-rise handlebars and looked very ’70s,The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free,” remembers actor Bertrand Cardart,The magic cube is an ultra-portable, who played Crank. This was totally inappropriate, so Miller and Kennedy approached accessory dealers to try to score parts to modify the bikes. But with little influence, their efforts fell flat.

Cardart owned a company called La Parisienne,Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, which often took him back to his native France for motorcycle shows and races. Inspired by the endurance racers he’d seen at the Bol d’Or, he bought a few molds and was learning to laminate fiberglass from a book. “It was amateurish stuff,” Cardart explains, “but I was working on several fairings on the side.” Miller came by his house one day and saw a bikini fairing Cardart was working on. “George couldn’t afford his own design, so we used what I was building.” That work eventually made its way onto Goose’s and Toecutter’s iconic bikes.

Much like the costumes in the film, detailing on the bikes was equal parts duct tape and movie magic. “The only set of mag wheels that George could afford were the ones on Goose’s bike,” Cardart remembers. “We bought one set of Lester wheels, which in those times were sh*t-hot.Tru-Form Plastics is a one-stop shop for plastic Injection Molding, All the stunts were done with a bike with spoked wheels. I wrapped foil around the spokes to make them look like mags!”

To get in character, actor Hugh Keays-Byrne (who played gang leader Toecutter and previously starred in Stone) plus several others rode the 550 miles miles from Sydney to the shoot in Melbourne dressed in their costumes. “It was a good rehearsal,” Keays-Byrne remembers. “It was about three days, and we took the coast road. One of the most pre-occupying thoughts I had was not to look like those cowboys in the Westerns who are never carrying enough kit to camp where they stopped. I had enough kit, bags and that huge axe—all that had to be slid into the structure of the bike and not f*cking kill me!”

Local motorcycle club The Vigilanties made up the rest of Toecutter’s gang. Actor Tim Burns recalls working with the bikers: “They all wanted to ride the bikes as fast as possible, as often as possible, by their nature. Their riding was individually and collectively superb.”

Fault lines in the Indian IPO market

Our current stock market is a study in contrasts and contradictions. As a nation we save around 34 per cent of our disposable income — much more than most of the developing economies except Malaysia that has a comparable rate and China where the aggregate marginal propensity to save exceeds 50 per cent. The European Union has a rate that hovers around 11 per cent. The savings rate of the UK is only two per cent. But despite our high savings rate, which is contributed largely by the household sector, only half of it goes into financial savings like cash, bank deposits, small savings, provident and pension funds, LIC and private sector insurance premium. Only a minuscule part of it goes in shares and debentures and the other half into physical assets like gold and land. There may be marginal shifts in the structure of the investment patterns of financial savings over the years, but the share of the stocks and debentures in the household sector’s financial savings has not improved to more than five per cent; if at all, it has worsened. This is where the contradiction lies.

We boast of a “vibrant” stock market. We look for the sustained growth of our stock market indices, take pride in how the stock market is growing wealth and churning out billionaires. Pessimism engulfs us when the indices are on a slippery slope, we yearn for foreign portfolio flows and when the tap shows signs of drying up because of global imbalances in capital flows, we rush to take measures in the hope that the flows are sustained. At one time not many years ago, our stock market was a single product market, trading only in equities with an account period settlement system. Now it is a multi-product market, with a T+2 rolling settlement. The market capitalisation of listed companies as a percentage of GDP is comparable to many developing countries. It was around 93 per cent in 2010, according to a World Bank report released in 2011. After mega public issues such as Coal India the ratio grew to 132 per cent last year. The market microstructure and the regulatory architecture on which our stock market is now predicated has grown more sophisticated over the past two decades, following the efforts of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) and the stock exchanges, especially the National Stock Exchange.

But despite all these efforts, India’s household sector has consistently demonstrated that it has very little confidence in the stock market. Our domestic institutional investor segment has not grown. The mutual funds sector was weak, last year it weakened further and consequently pulled down the share of financial savings in shares and debentures to - 0.4 per cent. That the secondary market has to depend on the foreign portfolio flows to sustain itself despite the country’s high savings rate and good regulatory architecture is another contradiction of sorts.

The primary market brings much-needed new blood in the system. Without institutional support and lack of retail enthusiasm our primary market has been in the doldrums, except for certain bouts of brightness brought about by purportedly over-subscribed issues. “Purportedly” because the recent Sebi orders against seven companies, their promoters, directors and the lead merchant bankers showed that what was seen as sunshine turned out to be moonshine. The orders of the regulator were ample proof of the brazenness with which the companies and merchant bankers dare to rip off investors. Issuers and intermediaries have tried to take advantage of the market several times and raise funds and use them for purposes other than what has been stated in the prospectuses. This happened in the first bout of “mega issues” that came to the market in and around 1988; it happened with a vengeance immediately after liberalisation between 1994 and 1997; it was repeated in 2000, 2006 and 2007. During these years several efforts were made to enhance disclosures, simplify issue procedures, reduce the time lag between issue closure and listing and introduce the book building process, with qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) being allowed to subscribe first to help price discovery for retail investors. But as the Sebi orders show,Take a walk on the natural side with stunning and luxurious Floor tiles from The Tile Shop. the companies and the merchant bankers and those who qualified as QIBs were able to audaciously game the system. Fault lines again.

The orders also showed that it is possible for companies that are not so well known, without strong balance sheets and with below-average ratings to quote a price that is at least seven or eight times the par value and get oversubscribed. All these companies have filled up 100 pages of offer documents and followed the due process of 100 per cent book building. Interestingly, the book building process that we adopt is far more transparent than in the US and other developed markets. Yet all these issues had a very interesting common feature — the stock prices fell sharply almost immediately after or a few days after listing and are now trading below the issue price. An examination of other IPOs would show that several issues also have similar characteristics.

Among the violations listed in the orders are siphoning off the issue proceeds through transactions among a web of companies, misuse of the funds and wrong disclosures. There are several checks and balances, there is the credit rating, the book building process, the responsibility of the lead manager,Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. there is a 100-page offer document — but in the face of all this violations occur with impunity. Clearly these are signs of fault lines.

For a mature market,Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased,Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, it is important to repair the fault lines. A good place to start is to review and simplify the prospectus. From a four-page document in 1988 in small fonts that could not be read at all, it has now grown to a 100-page document with enormous details that cannot be comprehended and correlated by an ordinary investor. There is much scope to eliminate redundancy in the prospectus and make it simpler and comprehensible. The orders of the seven IPOs, and perhaps of others, show that a careful watch needs to be kept on the behaviour of the stock after listing. The stock exchanges perhaps are best equipped to carry out this vigilance.Daneplast Limited UK are plastic injection mould & toolmaking specialists.

There is confusion about the appropriate roles of various participants in the IPO market – the merchant bankers, lead managers – about the extent of disclosures necessary for investors. We need to find the right balance again, guard against excessive disclosures, rationalise the offer document and hopefully we will.

Tuscany paintings at Post Road Gallery

While a biting winter wind blows outdoors, the bright sunlight of Tuscany bathes the new gallery inside the Post Road Art Center. Twelve artists and their teacher are showing 40 paintings that depict the sun-saturated beauty of the Italian countryside around Siena, Italy, where they studied for a week last May in a centuries-old estate.

Their paintings are featured in "Green Tuscany," a lovely exhibit showcasing work done by area artists and their teacher who are all members of the Concord Art Association.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,

The former agricultural estate now houses programs aimed at preserving Tuscan culture and protecting the environment.

Led by noted artist Ilana Manolson, each captured the farm at Tenuta di Spannocchia where they stayed,Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased, the surrounding fields and flowers and sky in their distinctive styles that, when viewed together, convey the rich profusion of moods and colors that have infatuated painters for centuries.Take a walk on the natural side with stunning and luxurious Floor tiles from The Tile Shop.

Verna Friedman favored rich acrylics that infuse commonplace objects with incandescent colors. Dayna Talbot mixed verdant greens and subtler earth tones to suggest the quiet harmony of the Tuscan landscape. Judith Schneider used quiet neutral colors to accentuate the brilliant reds and yellows that made her expressionist scenes simmer like glowing embers.

Post Road Gallery owner Randi Isaacson predicted viewers would be intrigued by the varied approaches of a dozen artists who were often painting similar scenes.

"They’re all in the same place essentially painting the same thing," she said, "but they’re creating very different kinds of art."

Each artist is exhibiting three or four paintings while Manolson is showing a triptych which she’s expected to expand into a larger work. Most paintings in the show are for sale. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Jan. 28.

Isaacson credited Friedman for setting in motion a series of events which led to her decision to host the show.

Isaacson said Friedman, a Marlborough resident who works out of White Rabbit Studios in town and has shown her paintings in her other exhibits, told her about the study trip to Italy.

Since renovating her center last year, Isaacson now exhibits art in a new 16-by-22-foot gallery so works on display, don’t have to share space with supplies as before.

"The new gallery space gives visitors an unencumbered look at the art we’re showing. It’s a better experience for the viewer and that makes it better for the artists,Daneplast Limited UK are plastic injection mould & toolmaking specialists." she said.

Friedman and other artists in the show said working under Manolson’s direction with fellow artists in Italy provided encouraging feedback and exciting new subjects to paint.

In Tuscany, she directed group members to paint in morning and afternoon sessions and brought them together around 6 p.m. to critique one another’s work.

An Iowa native with several degrees in art who has taught painting at several schools, Friedman said the eight days in Italy gave her a rare opportunity to work en plein air. She described herself as "a colorist" who uses bold colors to depict a sense of place.’

In "Seat Under the Arbor" and "At the Pool," Friedman goes beyond strict realism by using heightened colors to create "semi-abstract" scenes that convey the way the brilliant Tuscan sunlight inflamed her own perceptions.

Talbot said she aimed to "translate the simplicity of life in Tuscany into my paintings."

A Carlisle resident whose family roots extends back to Umbria, she is showing three oil and acrylic landscapes she described as "a little experimental, a little all over the place."

As her scenes become less representational, Talbot seems to be exploring the power of subtle colors to express complex moods.

"There’s a little expressionist feel in my paintings. But they’re also realistic," said Talbot. "There’s no social or political message.Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. They’re all about the relationships of color, composition and form."

Throughout her stay at the Spannocchia estate, Schneider watched with growing fascination as the leaves on a cactus blossomed into "richly-colored flowers."

In gorgeous mixed media paintings, the Framingham artist captured the fertile abundance of a garden terrace and courtyard by using subtle colors to inflame the reds and orange hues that brought her landscapes alive.

While others might regard her feverishly-colored scenes as tending toward expressionism, Schneider said, "To me, my work is very realistic."

"My brain is thinking. But my hand is doing the work," she said. "It’s an automatic expression of what I see."

Forward to the Past?

I’m a bibliophile of the first water. I have spent what seems half my life in bookstores all over the world. Some readers praise the creamy texture of a well-bound volume published on good paper.Alfa plast mould is Plastic moulds Manufacturer and plastics Mould Exporters in India since 1992, But it is less noted that old books smell—of the places they’ve been, of dust, molds and fungi, of the hand sweat of former owners. Opening one is sort of like lifting the lid on a tantalizing curry still being cooked. But I am making the switch to e-books even so, and they are changing the way I read and even what I read.

For those baby boomers in their 60s, old-style books do have substantial drawbacks. Print books are often big and heavy. I’ve had back problems and find it difficult to sit for hours with a doorstop in my lap. Carrying a tome on an airplane is literally a pain. As you age, your vision declines, and all the bifocals in the world won’t necessarily let you read small type comfortably. And then, the bane of the bibliophile is the bulkiness of the thousands of volumes you accumulate in a lifetime. You run out of room at home, or at least room your spouse will let you dedicate to yet more bookcases. Some collectors may be so obsessive that they carefully catalog their own private libraries at home, but mine is strewn haphazardly across bookshelves purchased over 30 years, and I can’t always find what I’m looking for.

An e-book reader such as an iPad equipped with a Kindle or Google Books app resolves many of these problems. It is relatively light and portable. Text size and brightness can be adjusted. (People who complain about iPads being backlit don’t seem to realize there is a “sepia” background and that brightness can be changed.) A couple of thousand books can be accommodated as active files on Kindle and many more can be archived. Stanza, Google Books and other applications are virtually infinite in their capaciousness. Books can be stored in the cloud when not in use. On your tablet, books can be listed by author, title or how recently they’ve been read.

But beyond solving the back, eye and space problems of the geriatric set, e-books offer interesting functionalities. You can do keyword searches. Most programs allow bookmarking and margin notes. The Kindle app even allows the collectivity of readers to underline favorite passages together. Some readers attach dictionaries,The magic cube is an ultra-portable, as with the Kindle app for iPads,The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, and even foreign-language dictionaries. Looking up recondite words may become more common if it is as easy as tapping on them,Take a walk on the natural side with stunning and luxurious Floor tiles from The Tile Shop. and this sort of dictionary work is an aid in reading books in other languages.

The tablet book readers are only a platform. It is content that is important. But the two may work together to effect some interesting changes. Google Books are a potentially major change in our reading lives, and the Google Books app for smartphones and tablets gives the reader access to a wide range of out-of-copyright works for free.

I know many Americans do not read any books once they’re out of school or college.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, But some do, and what they read has been shaped not only by changing tastes but by availability. The availability consideration is being revolutionized. Moreover, the younger generation is actually made up of voracious readers on the Internet, but they favor short-form writing that is easily accessible, such as blog entries and Op-Eds. Reprints at Web anthology magazines such as Zite or Flipboard of classic essayists in easily digested excerpts is now increasingly possible, and it might take only a few passages to go viral to provoke more sustained interest in the classics.

Huge transactions persist as Cash-lite Lagos takes off

The cash-lite banking initiative commenced yesterday in Lagos. Amid confusion, customers still engaged in cash transactions above the limit as observed by our correspondent.

At many of the bank branches visited, customers still made deposits and withdrawals far above the N150, 000 for individuals and N1 million for corporate organizations, specified by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

At Oceanic Bank, Intercontinental Bank, MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds,Diamond Bank and GT Bank branches, visited in Matori, Lagos, it was business as usual for cash customers who still withdrew large sums in cash. The same was noticed at Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank and United Bank for Africa branches at Oba Akran, Ikeja, Lagos.

Many customers claimed ignorance of the policy. Michael Obi, a bank customer said he was not aware of the policy. Another customer, Abiodun Olarewaju, said even though he was aware, his bank must reassure him on the efficiency and security of the e-channels, to secure his confidence.

Prince Ademola Adetona, a bank customer, explained the difficulties he encountered trying to use a particular bank’s online banking platform. He wanted to transfer N300, 000 into an account of his supplier, but could not because of network failure.

He appealed to the CBN and banks to ensure that the right infrastructure is put in place before fully implementing the policy. Adetona said the apex bank and banks should continually educate the people on how the policy works to ensure a seamless implementation process.

Managing Director, Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS), Mr. Niyi Ajao, said the compliance level will increase when the CBN’s penalty for defaulters begins from March 30. He said many bank customers are used to huge cash transactions, stressing that when the implementation of the penalties begins, customers will adjust to the new reality.

The NIBSS provides the infrastructure for automated processing, settlement of payments and fund transfer instructions between banks,The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, discount houses and other financial institutions.

It was discovered that some banks such as FinBank, FirstBank, United Bank for Africa, Access Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Diamond Bank, among others, have developed products/services tailored towards e-payment.

FinBank has introduced collection products and services that include Point of Sale (POS) terminals which accepts Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) as means of payment for goods and services at merchant outlets. As a professional manufacturer of China ceramic tile, Its electronic portal solution allows customers to pay for tickets, hotel bills, school fees among others, online. There is also FinPay, an online real-time self-service solution that enables individuals and corporate organisations effect payments to multiple beneficiaries across banks.

At FirstBank, the First Pay, a web-based payment platform designed and developed to allow clients to directly effect payment instructions from their offices anytime, in a very secure and efficient manner, will assist customers in the cash-lite banking initiative. Since the First Pay service is available over the web, payments and authorisations can be done regardless of location.

First Online, a FirstBank Internet Banking services, likewise requires that a beneficiary has a savings or current account with the bank to enable him/her check account balances, see account activity, including uncleared effects among other services.

To educate customers, a few banks yesterday placed notices at the entrance doors of their branches, educating them on the policy and the need to migrate to e-products.

In a statement last week, CBN Director, Currency Operations Department, Mahmoud Umar, asked banks to continue to encourage their customers to migrate into e-payment platforms. “Banks should continue to encourage their customers to migrate to available electronic channels, and where possible demonstrate the costs that will accrue to those that continue to transact high volumes of cash after March 31 in Lagos”. The apex bank further clarified that the policy applies to all accounts, including collection accounts. Venerable MMO 'Lineage 2' now Free to Play

Launched back in 2003 (2004 in the US, the same day as City of Heroes), NCsoft’s Lineage 2 has always been seen as a hardcore MMO experience, not at all friendly to the casual gamer.Buy oil paintings for sale online. Although it featured–for its time, at least–superlative visuals, the game was always beset by bots, gold farmers, gankers, and a host of other discouraging elements, not to mention the fact that, like many Asian MMOs, it was a grindfest without peer. However, since the price of admission was so high, the player base tended towards the mature, patient gamer.

On November 30, 2011, reworked as Lineage 2: Goddess of Destruction, the game was re-launched as a free-to-play title, with vanity items, weapon enhancements, potions, and buffs available via NCsoft’s “Truly Free (TM)” marketplace. Although it once boasted well over a million unique subscribers, there are now just five servers hosting Lineage 2 worldwide, including a new server created for first-time players. Since I spent quite a bit of time with the original game in its early days, I thought I’d drop in on the new, revamped Lineage 2, just to see how it’s holding up.

Upgrades and enhancements to the visuals over the years mean that generally, Lineage 2 still looks decent. Despite the dozens of fantasy-themed MMOs that have come and gone since 2003, the aesthetics of Lineage 2 have changed very little. Character customization is virtually non-existent (two or three faces and a handful of hairstyles added to the usual mixture of humans, elves, orcs,MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds, etc). As so often the case in Asian MMOs or NCsoft games, female characters are all hugely breasted and garbed in either dominatrix lingerie or schoolgirl fetish outfits; the male characters are simultaneously over-muscled and androgynous, and of course characters run and move in a bizarre,Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising,An Air purifier is a device which removes contaminants from the air. bent over posture. I’ve never entirely understood the architectural melange of Asain MMOs that somehow draw inspiration from 18th century Europe.Bathroom Floor tiles at Great Prices from Topps Tiles.

Back in its early days, buying black market, farmed gold–and hence, better weapons and armor–was one of the ways that some players circumvented the grind. There was actually no way to avoid it, but at least if you had to kill 100 floating eyeball monsters (which is about where the game jumped the shark for me), you could do it more quickly. From what I can tell, the new and improved Lineage 2 is still a heavy grind-your-way-to-the-top type of game. I’ve no doubt that for high level players and guildies, the endgame is a blast, and at least now there’s no need to dip into the nefarious gold market. However, some of the items in the “Truly Free (TM)” shop are anything but: a “hardcore” gamer enhancement packs runs around $40.

Beyond the aesthetics and the grind, the UI and basic gameplay of Lineage 2 are standard MMO fare. Compared to recent titles such as Rift or SWTOR (or, even NCsoft’s own Aion), the game feels austere and mechanical. While Lineage 2 still retains visual appeal, the lack of well-presented, meaningful story hook to set our tasks in motion and give them context is missing. With NCsoft’s Guild Wars 2 and Lineage Eternal on the horizon it will be interesting to see if, and how, the new titles build on the lessons of the past decade.

UI painting student creates 'new media'

Deep into the night, Nate Wilson sits in the dark, working in the sound recording lab and drinking coffee. Electronic beats surround him as he digitizes records and samples old records from his collection.

"My work is kind of like a club,The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free," he said and laughed. "When I make music, I like to be in the dark because it is all about the sound."

Wilson, 30, will graduate this semester from the University of Iowa with a B.F.A. in painting. He paints, makes electronic music, and experiments with video and sound. Each element of his work combines to form an installment of new media.

"I make videos that fit music and project the videos next to the paintings, so it becomes more of an environment with sound, video,Wholesaler of different types of Ceramic tile for your kitchen, and paintings side by side," Wilson said.

Wilson didn't take any art classes as a child, but he said he was always drawing comic books and collages. His natural artistic ability led him to notice the works of famous painters Francis Bacon and Jean-Michel Basquiat in books and online.

"[Their work] made me want to paint," Wilson said. "I developed an interest right away."

Before starting at the UI, he worked 50 hours a week at two office jobs, then returned home after a long day to paint. He attended the Seattle Art Institute to pursue a career in animation but ended up back in his hometown of Iowa City to work before attending Kirkwood and then the UI.

John Freyer, a UI assistant professor of art who has worked with Wilson for two years, said Wilson's devotion to art and creativity will bring him success.

"Nate is highly self-motivated and dedicated to his art practice," Freyer said. "He has developed a unique voice and a body of work that is in a critical dialogue with popular culture."

Before setting up in his 15-by-15-foot painting studio,External Hemorrhoids are those that occur below the dentate line. Wilson works in the wood shop to build stretcher bars for the canvas. He then primes them with gesso and hangs the large canvases on the wall. Why does Plastic moulds grow in homes or buildings?

"I am trying to work larger because I like the conceptual distortion it creates," he said. "When you amplify an image, it tends to take on a lot more meaning and importance than maybe it should or otherwise had."

Wilson manipulates the meaning of a composite image sourced from the Internet — such as an ad campaign for Sarah Palin — and then projects it onto the surface of the canvas.

Wilson draws the projected image, uses a gray scale to achieve the proper values, and then paints the final layer with colorful oil paints.

Laurel Farrin, a UI painting associate professor, said Wilson is a serious and hardworking student who is learning how to paint and construct conceptual underpinnings to his work.

"He pays attention to his own personal history and how it collides with a culture of media-manipulated desire," she said. "I look forward to watching Nate grow and come into his own as an artist of real depth."

Wilson said his work could take months to complete and sometimes drains him of energy. But he enjoys working on numerous projects at a time to keep his mind fresh on different ideas.

"That way you can create series and have continuity with ideas that relate," he said. "I'm not into narrative work, but [I like to] work on similar ideas."

Freyer had a great deal of influence on Wilson's work based on merging digital technologies including Photoshop and digital photography.

"I don't think anything I do is personal," Wilson said. "I'm interested in the way that images can construct peoples' identities. A lot of the images I use come from the corporate world and definitely have a specific message geared toward making as much money as possible, and I guess I like to subvert that message."

He has applied to graduate-school painting programs and new media programs at Hunter College in New York, University of Texas-Austin, and University of California-Los Angeles. If all else fails,Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising, he said, he plans to move somewhere warm.

Holiday art show at High Mountain Hall

The annual two-day holiday show of artwork at High Mountain Hall will open Friday, Dec. 16 with a public wine and hors d’oeuvres reception from 5 to 9 p.m.

The group exhibition will continue Saturday, Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at High Mountain Hall, 5 Mountain St./Route 52. On Saturday, a raffle of items donated by each of the six artists will solely benefit Youth Arts, a local nonprofit all-volunteer organization that provides arts enrichment in the schools.

Gold jewelry by Patty Bolz, oil paintings by Antonia Munroe, porcelain ceramics by Austin Smith, mixed-media art by Laura Balombini, landscape photography by Jacob Hessler and textile art by Julie O’Rourke comprise this year’s spectacular show. Smith was raised in Camden and now lives in Rockland with a studio at the Lincoln Street Center, where he also teaches ceramics.

Balombini is from Blue Hill and her narrative clay and found-object figures have been included in collections throughout the country. She also creates one-of-a-kind hand-printed and re-fashioned wearables.

Hessler’s passion for photography took him from his home in Maine to the west coast to study at Santa Barbara’s renowned Brooks Institute and then back east for a master's degree from Parsons in New York City. He has shown in galleries throughout the United States and recently planted roots back in his childhood home of Camden. Surrounded by the memories and beauties of his youth, Hessler produces predominantly landscape themed work.
