Filling the Gaps

If you've been playing Magic for some time, you've almost certainly experienced a temporary waning of the general fervor for the game. Don't be alarmed, this is perfectly normal. Do not attempt to cash out and sell your collection, you'll regret it when you want to start playing again, and even more so when you look up the would-be value of your cards in the future. Instead, take a breath, take a step back, and let's take a quick jaunt through some of my typical meanderings while I wait for my playgroup's interest to be rekindled by a new expansion or a shiny new deck.

If you're interested in some fairly in-depth Solitaire versions of Magic, you should check out this article, Playing Your Pet. I've been playing goldfish since I picked up a Magic deck, unbeknownst to myself until recently. It's just such an intuitive way to test a deck's ability to drop an opponent from 20 to 0,Wireless Indoor Positioning System have become very popular in the system. that in my mind it never needed a name and it was only the past couple of years that I discovered that it was called something after all. The long and short of goldfish is that your opponent does nothing, much like a goldfish swimming in its bowl. There is no real interaction. It simply looks on with awe as you deal 20 damage as fast as possible. Without any resistance,An Air purifier is a device which removes contaminants from the air. it should be fairly straightforward to win in short order, but it should be noted that just because it works against a goldfish, doesn't mean it works. Take an extreme case of a deck with 40 Goblins of the Flarg and 20 Mountains. Sure, you can beat a goldfish in 6 turns, but a single Grizzly Bears will basically shut you down. It takes a bit of refinement to see to it that your deck can deal 20 damage in only a few turns, while also being sure you are capable of powering through some defenses. Enter the dog. This solitaire opponent is much more of a challenge, since it actually does stuff during the game, and can even garner card advantage in a longer game (one land plus one spell per turn means that 7+ turns gives card advantage to the dog.) This is a more complex approach, but actually attempts to simulate playing an opponent, which can easily outclass a lesser deck, since the mana base is artificially perfect and the player will always be casting the most powerful possible spell on a given turn. Of course,Welcome to the online guide for do-it-yourself Ceramic tile. if I'm involved enough to be playing against the dog, I typically just pit two of my decks against each other, playing both sides and vying for neither deck in particular.

When I get tired of dueling myself in solitaire Magic, there's always my fallback digital facsimile, Duels of the Planeswalkers. I played the original and the more recent version(Duels 2012) to completion, and still I go back for more. They make a very sound investment for any Magic player that's used to spending $4 on a single Booster Pack, since you get access to several decks for only a few dollars. While the deck choices are pretty solid, the game will leave you wanting for more customization. You are not able to build custom decks in Duels, though you do unlock upgrades for most decks as you play, xcel Mould is a Custom Mold Making, giving some element of optimization,Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, if not construction, the longer you play. In Duels 2012 they even included Archenemy Mode which, if you're not familiar, pits up to three players against a single enemy. You can play as or against the Archenemy, and the casual format brings something new to the table with the Scheme Cards that give powerful effects to benefit the common enemy. If you're new to Magic or even just interested in learning, Duels is a great place to start. You'll learn all you need to know about the turn structure, as well as the basics of the Stack and Priority from playing a few games against the computer, which should prepare you well for a real game against a friend.

Finally, there is MTGO, the actual online counterpart to the paper-based game. This is a whole different beast than Duels of the Planeswalkers, since you'll need to have some idea of what you're doing to really get started here. If you're avoiding Duels because of the lack of customization, however, this is a great place to look. Not only can you get access to the Duels decks in the Planeswalker format, but you can even create custom decks from scratch without the heavy monetary investment required to get a Standard collection started. I started my own account a few years ago, but I never kept up with it, since I so favor paper Magic. As a result, my entire collection sports a paltry 26 Standard legal cards, making the barrier to entry into Standard a bit high for me. Though I am recently considering working on my drafting in MTGO, I'm currently relegated to the Planeswalker format and building out new decks from the pre-constructed card pool, at least until the new Cube format debuts at PAX East.

The Stones Are Back

I know I’ve not offered any new writing in a while, and I feel that I owe my Reader an apology. This is unreasonable of me, yet I feel the need to offer an explanation nevertheless.

Earlier tonight, Mrs. Likko wondered why it is that I was cranky and made an unkind remark. We’d had a very nice morning and a pleasant afternoon together. We’d been together,An Air purifier is a device which removes contaminants from the air. away from work, since Wednesday. The ailment that nearly felled me Wednesday and Thursday has been abated and will be treated hopefully soon, my schedule allowing. So what was wrong with me?

These two concerns are related. After all, how was I to tell my wife that a big part of what was making me anxious and unsettled was not just my anxiety about having to pass a kidney stone out of my back in the next several weeks, but much more so my inability to find some quiet time to myself to sit down and write about something?

You see, it’s been insanely busy at my meatworld job. It’s a combination of my eviction practice and my “big boy litigation” practice. All of these are converging to require trials and intense out-of-the-area depositions all at once. You may skip the next four paragraphs, Reader, if “work has been incredibly busy and stressful” is a sufficient summary.

The eviction trials keep on getting pushed back by the court. What ought to be short-cause, ten-minute trials are pumped up into four-day jury trial events due to a “public interest” law firm that invokes their clients’ jury trial rights so as to “negotiate” cash-for-keys money from my landlord clients, the merits of the case being irrelevant.* Well, as it turns out, a critical mass of my clients have decided that they’re tired of being extorted, and would rather pay me my hourly rate to fight these guys than to feed the monster. And the courts, surprisingly enough, think they have better things to do than jury trials for evictions, so we keep getting our trials continued because criminal courts keep poaching our juries at the last minute.

So I have half a dozen clients screaming at me that their tenants have been living in their houses for six months to (in one case) an entire year without paying any rent, wrecking the places and pissing off the neighbors, and no one in the legal system will do anything about it. And documents and trial dates and witnesses to wrangle, juggling each one every week as a new date approaches. Worse, my office’s infrastructure is not set up to handle all of this with anything approaching efficiency. Why does moulds grow in homes or buildings?

Then, I’ve got what would otherwise be a tasty and interesting case that I could sink my teeth into, only I haven’t the time to do it because of all the fishing evictions. This case will take me away from home for overnight, multiple-day depositions at least five times over the next six weeks. It’s a technical, complex, bet-the-company sort of case. And I haven’t been able to put in the time and intellectual energy that the case deserves.

All the other lawyers in my firm who litigate are also up to their eyebrows and crying for life vests as well, so I can’t count on them for a lot of support. What is a third party payment gateway ? With all of this going on, it’s been long hours at the office and a deep-fried stress McNugget functioning as my brain by the end of the day,InLocality specializes in indoor Tracking Technologies. which is why for about a week here at the best blog on the internet I was putting out “B” material, and then decided that if I couldn’t bring my “A” game I would be better off taking some time off and dealing with other stuff.

This is when a trip to the deep south to celebrate my grandmother’s ninetieth birthday, which has been planned for six months now, comes due. As of last week, my litigation schedule was working very, very hard to give me lots of incentives to cancel the trip, forfeit the airfare, and disappoint my family. But with an effort that felt truly Herculean, I managed to get away for three consecutive days. Now all of my PTO for the calendar year is gone, a situation which makes me not happy at all. After all, I might get sick.

Which is what I did, the very first day of my time away from the pressure-cooker. It didn’t help that I’d got very little sleep for the two days before leaving, but lack of sleep does not cause the symptoms I experienced upon landing in Birmingham, Alabama. These included a headache of an intensity I’d never known despite a history of migraines, and sudden-onset nausea along with other even less pleasant gastrointestinal disquietude. Other migraine symptoms, like floaters or blind spots, were absent. Thinking it might be food poisoning, I waited another functionally sleepless night to see if the symptoms persisted. They did with even tap water generating nausea, so I asked to be taken to see a doctor. An urgent-care clinic was found, where I spent five hours of my last days of vacation for the year waiting for a doctor to attend me.

The diagnosis came back “kidney stones,” complicated by a viral and a bacterial urinary tract infection. I have a history of kidney stones, so that’s hardly a surprise,Official web site for Uwe cube puzzle and novelties, and it’s not difficult to see how stones scraping around inside the organs could facilitate pathogens getting in there and breeding. I still can’t feel the stones pressing against my kidneys, so I know they’re large enough to obstruct my systems but not yet large enough to move on and pass. So I have that to look foward to in the near future, too. And upon our return, we had to spend nearly the whole day getting our household affairs in order, which in turn meant lots of more time spent on life’s myriad minutiae, eventually resulting in me taking ten fishing seconds to read an e-mail from a friend on my phone when I could have been folding my laundry when Mrs. Likko had the misfortune to ask “What are you doing?” and I snapped something less than gracious back.

And, I’ve received e-mails from more than one of my fellow Ordinaries who’ve been inquiring as to why I haven’t produced any new material. It’s gratifying to know that the community cares about its members enough for those sorts of inquiries to go out. So this is the public, long-form answer.

And the weirdest thing about it is that the exercise of sitting down and writing, expressing my thoughts and giving vent to my frustrations, is somewhat calming and palliative. Stephen King, at least apocroyphically, was once asked, “Why do you write at all?” and his answer was, “You assume I have a choice.” If the story isn’t true, it ought to be. I think to some degree that syndrome applies to everyone who writes for a blog and receives in return only the compensation of the pleasure of knowing they’ve been read. The act of writing is itself a pleasure, or at least a release.

So that’s my explanation for why I’m cranky. It seems downright silly to attribute a bad attitude to an inability to sit down and write. But now that I’m nearing a conclusion to the essay, I do feel some weight off my shoulders, a resolution of at least some tension. I’d like to think that I’ll have time over the next few weeks to think about a political, legal, or cultural issue and share those thoughts, offer something worthy of debate or at least thought by others. I’m not optimistic and I’m already stressed out even contemplating what awaits me at the office tomorrow. But at least I’ve been heard from.

How Solar Energy Can Save You Money

Solar energy is gradually becoming popular in Georgia as more and more companies offer equipment for its installation.

However solar equipment will eventually pay for itself in two to five years depending on how much sun a particular location receives. This page contains information about molds, At first glance this seems quite attractive, but the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia advises investing money in something else if one is looking for a quick and easy economic result.

There are two types of equipment for solar energy: solar collectors and solar panels. The first one is used for space heating and hot water. Meanwhile solar panels generate and supply electricity in commercial and residential applications.

“The price of a solar collector depends of the needs of the customer,” Zurab Mshvenieradze, Owner of Techenergo, told The FINANCIAL. “If a family of three uses a solar collector for 150 litres of water of 55 Celsius and heating for an apartment of 50 square meters daily, the cost of the equipment will be 2,200 USD.”  Just Choose PTMS plastic injection mould Is Your Best Choice!

In total its price will come to about 3,000 USD. Techenergo offers solar collectors with two year guarantees. The guarantee for a solar panel is 20 years.

“The price of solar panels also varies depending on the types of panels and totals approximately 4 USD per 1 watt. The supply voltage could be permanent or variable up to 1,000 volts,” Mshvenieradze explained.

“Installing solar collectors will pay for itself in about two years in the event of average use which means 50 litres of 55 Celsius water per person. The equipment of solar panels will pay for itself in five years time in the event of using 200-300 Kilowatt/hour per month.”

“In spite of the high cost of installation, solar energy is quite profitable and demand has increased since the utility bill for waste has been attached to the utility bill for electricity. The main demand is coming from the cities. But in reality solar energy is more profitable in the regions,” he stated.

The solar energy cost per Kilowatt/hour is about 0.40 USD according to international prices. One Kilowatt/hour of hydro electro energy is about 0.13 GEL in Georgia. The price difference is quite high, but after several years people will have free electricity in the case of solar energy.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia nowadays in Georgia solar energy collectors and panels are being installed in high mountainous regions including Tusheti, where hydro electro energy is not available. The first stage of this project has already been implemented and the second step will start in a short while. It is being funded by a grant.

“On the other hand people who have enough money to afford quite expensive equipment mainly install them in houses out of Tbilisi ,An Air purifier is a device which removes contaminants from the air.” said Mariam Valishvili, First deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, “Georgia isn’t ready for intensive use of solar energy. 3,000 USD is quite a significant amount of money for the majority of the Georgian population. Not many of them can afford it. In regards to solar energy development, the Government needs subsidies. This is almost impossible as our economy does not give us the possibility.”

“Here lies another problem. Solar energy equipment needs special care. Lots of users do not know about this and the equipment therefore experiences malfunctions frequently. So solar energy is associated with several problems and isn’t likely to be used intensively in Georgia in the near future. It comes down to additional comfort versus everyday needs,” Valishvili explained.

“If people are planning to invest money in solar energy, I’d advise them to invest in something else based on their situation. On the other hand, investors who are going to make capital in such projects will only get this money back in about 50 years. Such projects are generally funded by grants, she added.

Solar energy is being implemented in high mountainous regions where hydro electro energy is not available. As a result solar energy is helping the development of eco tourism as well.

Cooking up some soap in the factory/kitchen

A love of handcrafted soap has morphed into a small business for Amy Grows.

With help from her husband, Walt, son, Casey, and a loyal customer base, the Camas Creek Soap Co. has grown to the break-even stage.  Just Choose PTMS plastic injection mould Is Your Best Choice!

"We're somewhat self-supporting," she says during a tour of the company's factory, supply room and show room - also known as her kitchen and laundry room.

Since the company launched two years ago, she's sold soap from Island Park to New Zealand and from Spain to the Midwest. And her well-organized and professionally displayed product has become a mainstay of area farmers markets and craft fairs.

Island Park campers,Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, including camp hosts, search out her citronella-scented Shoo Fly soap to help keep the bugs at bay.

Fly-fishing shop customers buy her packages of pretty soaps with soft loofah sponges on a hand-made redwood soap dish as presents for their wives and girl friends back home.

Kids seek out the colorfully labeled Cotton Candy and Mud Pie soap.

She and her family make all of these soaps and more by hand from recipes fine-tuned by experience.

Amy says she's always been interested in handmade soaps, mainly because she loved the scents and the way they make her skin feel. She tried many before deciding to try her own hand at the craft to develop the best bar for her. She found a company that came close to producing the perfect bars and asked if she could learn from them.

She took two basic classes from a woman that runs the Greencastle Soap Co. in northern Idaho, perused plenty of books and gave it a try.

"It's really a science," she says. The Transaction Group offers the best high risk merchant account services, Though people have made soap throughout history, and the basic concept of soap made from lye and tallow or oils has been around since the 17th century, making a perfect bar of soap takes the right ingredients in the right proportions and serious attention to detail.

She has experimented with many recipes for different soaps and keeps meticulous notes about what does and doesn't work.

Cautious as she was learning the craft, "now I'm braver, bolder and experiment more," she says. Still, she's found that shortcuts don't work.

Also through trial and error, she has found the best suppliers for her olive, coconut and essential oils, as well as the chemicals she uses to make lye. She buys as locally as much as possible. She grows her own flowers and herbs, and family members in different climates supply some of the herbs she uses. Her brother grows rosemary. He also sends her flowers seeds, such as calendulas,What is the top Hemorrhoids treatment? which she grows, too, and uses in her soaps.

Other ingredients come right from the kitchen pantry - oatmeal and cornmeal for exfoliating properties and tumeric for color.

The small batches that produce a six-pounds block of soap are cooked up in a stainless steel pot on her stove with the mixing done carefully by hand and poured slowly into the molds made by her husband. The blocks are cooled, cured and cut by hand, and the edges are shaped with the most basic of kitchen gadgets, a potato peeler.

While selling the finished product brings in enough cash to keep the company in business, the fun part is being able to give it away, she says.MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds,

The company cooked up bars of camouflage-colored soap and wrapped them in labels with the 116th Engineer's symbol and sent care packages of soap and Starbucks coffee packets to National Guard members serving in Afghanistan.

On a smaller scale, Amy has enjoyed giving bars of soap to kids for pennies and to others for no reason at all. She handed this reporter a cleverly stamped bar made of a blend of oils formulated to help dry skin. And she has donated bars of soap as prizes for the upcoming Feathers 'n' Fins cross-country ski race in Island Park Saturday.

Most of her sales come through word of mouth. "My daughter is my Midwest rep,I have just spent two weeks shopping for tile and have discovered Chinese porcelain tile.China Porcelain tile" she says. Her daughter sells the soap to friends and neighbors in Indiana.

Orders also go to New Mexico and California and even to folks who pick up the products in parking lots in Idaho Falls. Occasionally she will barter her soap for other products or services.

Symptoms Of Hemorrhoids And The Way To Spot Them

Hemorrhoids is a condition that many people have to unfortunately live with in pain.

Even though not everyone seems to be knowledgeable about what they are or recognize the signs to know if they have them.Welcome to the online guide for do-it-yourself Ceramic tile. The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, In many instances, the signs of hemorrhoids are mixed with other such conditions. Although people don't like to have hemorrhoids, we sometimes have to suffer with them, but there are plenty of methods to treat them. This article will help you to be aware of a few hemorrhoid symptoms.

The severity level of hemorrhoids ranges from first to fourth degree, and doctors differentiate between internal and external. The biggest difference is between the internal and external type, as when you have internal hemorrhoids they are not visible without a medical examination. An anti-inflammatory from the pharmacy should be enough to treat your hemorrhoids if they only happen occasionally and don't cause extreme discomfort.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,Listing of Taiwan & China Mold Maker manufacturer & suppliers.

Hemorroids can be easily diagnosed according to your medical history, symptoms, and an examination. If necessary, your doctor may want to examine you using an anoscopy which is just a means of visible inspection that illuminates the affected area in your anus/rectum. If hemorrhoids are confirmed, then of course there will be some changes in order with regard to diet and other areas. The condition oftens responds very well and is manageable, but sometimes surgery is needed to address more severe cases. In many instances, the symptoms of hemorrhoids can be controlled by natural remedies and medicines you can buy at the pharmacy.

The diet you consume can either be a big help or do alotof harm where your hemorrhoid symptoms are concerned.MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds, A lack of fiber in your diet, for example, can make you constipated, which can contribute to hemorrhoids. There are alot of people who believe that spicy foods irritate hemorrhoid symptoms after eaten. If this is the case with you, the best approach is to eat a diet high in fiber while avoiding hot and spicy foods as much as possible. You may also want to avoid unhealthy fats and junk foods as a general rule. Hemorroids and obesity are both caused by these types of foods.

Hemorrhoids is the kind of painful condition nobody wants to have. Yet, so many people in the more "advanced" societies seem to encounter this condition. While most of the time the symptoms do not require medical intervention, if they get bad enough then you could require surgery. State gets carded for tax refunds

The state of Connecticut said no to paper and is going with plastic when it comes to some tax refunds.

On Monday, the Department of Revenue Services announced it will no longer issue refund checks, but instead will be sending out Chase debit cards, requiring people to activate them before use. People who would rather not receive a debit card can opt to have their refunds direct deposited into their bank accounts.

"Issuing tax refunds as debit cards provides a security and convenience not available with paper checks," DRS Commissioner Kevin B. Sullivan said in a release. "Couple that with the elimination of check cashing fees and the refund debit cards are a benefit for taxpayers and the state."

The plastic cards will come in the mail and people will have to contact Chase to activate them. They can be used to access the money at ATMs or at retailers that accept them.Daneplast Limited UK are plastic injection mould & toolmaking specialists.

Louisiana is also going to a debit card refund. While Sullivan emphasized convenience, the DRS move follows a similar one made by the state Labor Department which began issuing unemployment insurance benefits on debit cards in 2011 and also allowed for direct deposit of benefits. The Labor Department, which also selected Chase for its program, said the move was expected to save about $200,000 a month in printing and postage costs.

Sullivan noted Revenue Services already allows for direct deposit and nearly 55 percent of the 1 million refunds issued last year were direct deposited.A mold or molds is a hollowed-out block that is filled with a liquid like plastic,

Sarah Kaufman, a Revenues Services spokeswoman,Overview description of rapid Tooling processes. said the department said it expects to save a similar amount of money, though not on a monthly basis.

One of the goals of shifting to debit cards is to spur more people to sign up for direct deposit, she said, but it's also aimed at helping Connecticut residents who do not have bank accounts avoid check-cashing fees.

The percentage of Connecticut refund recipients who do no have bank accounts was not immediately known.

The new program is another win for JP Morgan Chase, which also handles the unemployment benefits program for Connecticut. Chase declined to comment on how it makes money on the program.

Like its Labor Department deal, Chase has agreed to limit fees and people can avoid being charged if they use a Chase or People's United Bank ATM.

However, fees can be charged if other ATMs are used, or if users leave money on the card for more than one year.

People with refunds in excess of $10,000, collecting refunds on behalf of the deceased or who have offshore bank accounts will still receive checks.

Dare to be kind

FOR most of us, it’s not second nature to be kind. We are, whether we admit it or not, all selfish -- in varying degrees. But there are some of us who are kind. There are some of us who fight valiantly to subdue our innate selfishness. There are some of us who DARE to be kind. And one of the kindest people I know is my husband. Many people tell me the same thing.

My husband turned 60 last September. Five years ago, while he was giving a talk, he suffered a stroke. But by God’s grace, he wasn’t paralyzed. His motor skills were intact. All his five senses were preserved. He didn’t slur. He didn’t drool. His face didn’t wilt to one side. But what got affected was his word retrieval system. He couldn’t find the right words for things -- for example, if you asked him what he was drinking, he would say "citrus" instead of "kalamansi." (The stroke re-wired his brain from Pinoy to Continental! That was our private joke.) But his physical recovery was fast. In six months, he was able to play tennis again.Daneplast Limited UK are plastic injection mould & toolmaking specialists.

Dr. Alran Bengzon, my husband’s neurologist at the time, was so kind to my husband. Both Ateneans, they somehow spoke a kindred language. They shared this wry, Ateneo sense of humor that was both cerebral and homespun. When Dr. Bengzon asked my husband some diagnostic questions, I couldn’t help but laugh:

The way Dr. Bengzon handled that first interview was crucial to my husband, to me, to our family. From a deep, dark abyss of uncertainty, foreboding and dread, he gave us hope. He was just so kind. His bedside manner was perfect -- paternal, professional, warm -- with just enough humor to lighten up a very tense situation. After talking to my husband and sharing a few more laughs with him, the good doctor gently led me to one side.Alfa plast mould is Plastic moulds Manufacturer and plastics Mould Exporters in India since 1992, He showed me Ito’s brain scans. He patiently and unhurriedly explained what had happened inside my husband’s brain, and what probably caused the stroke. All of a sudden, my fears died down. I felt this doctor’s kindness, his concern for my husband was palpable and real.

To all the doctors out there, I make this plea: Dare to be kind to your patients. Your sincere concern makes a whole world of difference to our emotional well-being in the midst of a medical crisis. Treat your patients as people, not just numbers or "cases." Don’t be cold or curt. Don’t be in such a hurry when you talk to us, skipping important details that you think we might not understand. I can’t forget how Dr. Bengzon explained things to me patiently, unhurriedly, in word pictures I could understand. Just as a father would to his daughter. And you know what? It was his first time to meet Ito and me. We weren’t VIPs. But he treated us like we were. A very dear friend, Tess, called Dr. Bengzon and asked him to be Ito’s attending physician. Our family will never, ever forget their kindness to us -- at a time when we needed it most. They dared to be kind.

When my husband was cleared to go back to work, I bought him a new office ref so he could have fruits within easy reach whenever he got hungry. One of our friends filled his ref with fresh fruits and juices. She did that for some time, so I didn’t even have to restock my husband’s ref. She dared to be kind. Another person put an air purifier right in front of my husband’s desk, and asked if there was anything else he needed. That person dared to be kind. Friends sent lots of food, books, DVDs, lent their drivers, offered to get our test results, recommended their doctors, texted me incessantly to ask how Ito was, prayed without ceasing for his fast recovery. We were inundated with kindness in all forms, shapes and sizes.

I particularly remember a dear friend who gave Ito six huge workbooks . She ordered the books from abroad. When we showed the workbooks to Ito’s therapist, she was in AWE. She said that these were very expensive, state-of-the-art workbooks which any therapist would die to have in her library! Along with the workbooks were two video iPods which our friend also gave us -- she had loaded it with Ito’s favorite TV series so that he wouldn’t get bored while waiting in doctors’ offices. She also gave me a video iPod for myself, to keep me entertained while waiting with Ito. Mine was loaded with thousands of songs, a couple of movies, and lots of TV shows that will probably last me till I’m 90! How thoughtful of her. How kind. Our friend knew that Ito and I are Jurassic, so she took the trouble of loading the iPods for us. She DARED to be kind.

When my husband went back to work,Spro Tech has been a plastic module & Mold Maker, one of the things I was observing was how his colleagues would treat him when he went back to the office. Well,Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, there were people who were kind (God bless their hearts.) And there were people who were very, very unkind. It was a shock to me how some stayed away from him like he was a social pariah. Before his stroke, my husband held a responsible position, so people would often crowd around his office, waiting to talk to him with documents and checks and what-nots that needed his perusal or approval. But all of a sudden, after his stroke, Ito’s office was like a barren, desolate wasteland. In his absence, his things were transferred. He was relocated to a smaller space. When I checked what he was going back to, I was flabbergasted: his things were in boxes, in total disarray. So I fixed my husband’s office to make it look presentable,Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased, welcoming, a pleasant work environment for him.

Unfortunately, more bad things were waiting for him at work. Much worse than the stroke, a series of "unfortunate incidents" hit him from left field. My husband was slowly but surely stripped of his responsibilities, his authority, and people were removed from his supervision without any explanation. Never mind about showing kindness. All that the situation called for was a semblance of professionalism -- especially since my husband had served with a sterling record for more than a decade. All it took was a modicum of decency to tell him, "Hey, Ito, we don’t want to stress you out with lots of work right now. We want you to rest for a while. You deserve a good rest, after all your hard work. So we decided to divide your work among us. Hope you won’t mind if we come to you for advice now and then!" (Or words to that effect.) It would’ve taken only 20 minutes to sit down with him in a meeting, to show him a little kindness. But, alas, no such kindness was shown to him.

By God’s grace, my husband is a fighter by nature. Maybe it’s because he has played in tennis tournaments since he was twelve. That way, he developed nerves of steel. He was one of Ateneo’s youngest varsity tennis captains. He was trained to show grace under pressure, to hang tough, to keep on playing against all odds, and not to choke when it was finally Match Point. It’s one of the reasons why I really look up to him.

So, when my husband was summarily shelved aside with no explanation, his nerves of steel and innate calmness surfaced . Instead of wallowing in self-pity or bitterness or frustration, he thought of other things to do for the organization -- without being asked. In a way, he reinvented himself. He said, "Well, I will do what I can do to contribute whatever good I can. There’s always something useful to do." Fighting words, all right. And a lot of it, I believe, comes from an Atenean’s indomitable spirit. After all, every blue-blooded Atenean’s rallying cry is "ONE BIG FIGHT!!!" But more than that, I know that Ito’s vast reserve of strength, his tenacity to overcome, came from one limitless source of hope, strength, and kindness: GOD.

I am writing this not because I’m bitter. Not to pillory those people who were unkind to my husband in his time of need. Maybe they just weren’t equipped to respond with compassion. Maybe they grew up not receiving any kindness. Maybe they were going through their own trials at the time. Or maybe they were just too dense and insensitive (as I am at times). At the end of the day, whatever our reasons are for being unkind, we are all answerable to God.

I’m writing this to remind myself (and you, as you’re reading this) that it takes so little to be kind. It takes so little to prop up someone’s sagging spirits. It takes so little to make people feel they’re valuable human beings. It takes so little to assure a person: "Hey, it’s going to be okay. We can do this together. We’re right here with you!" Well, thank goodness, there were many people who rallied around us and constantly showed us kindness, over the long haul. Many of our friends surprised us that way!

Now that our lives have gone back to normal, it doesn’t hurt anymore to recall such a disturbing lack of compassion. In fact, one of my best life lessons came out of that traumatic situation: in any circumstance, each of us has a choice -- to be kind, or to be unkind. Our family survived one of the worst crises in our lives because many, many people dared to be kind.

Poor classroom air quality increases Medicaid costs

Poor classroom air quality may be a major factor driving children's respiratory illnesses which are costing Medicaid more than $27.1 billion annually.Husky Injection Mold Systems designs and manufactures a broad range of Stan Brannan, President of Purifan, explained, "On January 14, 2012, CNN published a comprehensive news story written by David S. Martin titled 'Are schools making kids sick?,' and at Purifan we believe strongly that this headline is true. We also believe poor classroom air quality is a major contributor to state Medicaid budgets." Brannan continued, "Medicaid budget directors might breathe easier when school-age children do, too,MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds, because high levels of airborne particulates found in many classrooms are triggering a wide variety of costly health problems for many children, their parents and their parents' employers."

Purifan, Inc. is a Kansas-based company that manufactures a super quiet, ceiling mounted air purifier called a Purifan, which converts an ordinary ceiling fan into a powerful air purifier. Purifans have been used in more than 100 schools since 2001 to reduce high particulate levels by capturing airborne particles like mold, dust, decaying skin cells, paper dust, chalk dust and pet dander. Teachers in classrooms with Purifans installed have reported noticeable improvements in absenteeism, use of medications like inhalers and in tests scores. All of these outcomes have been proven in numerous other scientific studies around the world using a variety of air purifier technology.

One fully equipped elementary school in Leavenworth, KS reported absenteeism in 2004 that averaged 18.23 sick days per child. After Purifans were installed in 2005, the average days missed per student dropped to 6.99, a reduction of more than 11.The magic cube is an ultra-portable,2 missed school days per child. Teacher sick days were also cut in half and student inhaler use logged at the nurse's station declined by 70%. Parents missed fewer work days, spent less on health costs and the school's No Child Left Behind test results improved significantly. Teachers reported children used less medication, kept up with class work,Take a walk on the natural side with stunning and luxurious Floor tiles from The Tile Shop. were more alert in class and achieved much higher scores on standardized tests.

Rising Medicaid costs for children are a major budget problem in every state. Purifan management believes that over the first five years, by aggressively and continuously filtering classroom air, the health costs savings for Medicaid alone could exceed 400% of the total cost. When all of the real out-of-pocket savings and costs are considered, including private insurance costs, teacher health cost impact, substitute teacher costs and the cost of parents missing work to care for sick children,Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased, the total savings of cleaner classroom air is projected by Purifan to be 25 times the cost.

Oatland vet tends wild bobcat

The first clue was the pile of five dead chickens.

Kenny Okorowski found them behind his Oatland Island house.

Looking further he discovered his sixth chicken buried nearby. His seventh backyard bird was just gone.

“I was walking my dog Saturday morning and when I came around to the backyard, the chicken coop was full of feathers but no chickens,” Okorowski said.

He dug up the buried bird and used it to bait a large animal trap he borrowed from nearby Oatland Island Wildlife Center. He knew the predator would be back for leftovers.

“I wasn’t sure whether it was a bobcat or a coon but I knew whatever it was needed to be caught,” he said.

The next morning the wire cage held a full-grown male bobcat.

“It wasn’t too angry,” said Okorowski,The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, who’s lived on Oatland for more than two decades but who hadn’t seen a bobcat in years.Take a walk on the natural side with stunning and luxurious Floor tiles from The Tile Shop. “But if we went too close he’d stand up and look at us.”

Okorowski took the 20-pound cat to Oatland where veterinarian Lesley Mailler has since been doctoring what she believes is an approximately 10-year-old bobcat that probably tangled with a large dog about a month ago.

Its left shoulder blade was crunched apart and the floating pieces of bone had fostered a nasty infection that made it hard for it to hunt.

“I think the wound forced it to find easier prey,” Mailler said.

The bobcat might also be responsible for killing one of Oatland’s turkeys, Darryl, the week before. (Turkey lovers can take consolation in the fact that the other Darryl was unharmed.)

Mailler knocked the cat out and cleaned the wound, pulling chunks of loose bone out then closed it up again. Several days later she knocked him out again for phase two of the wound care. She didn’t have to remove the stitches; he’d already done that.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,

“Naughty boy,” she said to the drugged cat laying on his side, tongue out, anesthesia mask on.

Mailler removed two surgical drains, tubes of latex that channel pus and fluid out of the wound. Then she stitched him up again, finishing three layers of internal stitches with a surgical glue for good measure. The inch-long piece of bone she removed in the first surgery won’t affect the cat’s mobility, Mailler said.

Named for their short tails, bobcats are the most common wild feline in the U.S. with a total population estimated at more than a million. The males are solitary with overlapping territories estimated at about 10 square miles,Tru-Form Plastics is a one-stop shop for plastic Injection Molding, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. They are not threatened or endangered.

Mailler has had recent practice on this species because the center last year acquired three adolescent bobcats that had been discovered as babies in South Carolina and nursed by a house cat. Mailler had to neuter them before they were put into their permanent display.

“We’ve had a bobcat bonanza going on,” Mailler said.

But the wild patient won’t be staying at Oatland permanently. Bobcats can live well into their teens, so at 10, this one is middle aged.MDC Mould specialized of Injection moulds, He’s thin, but the Oatland staff is fattening him up with frozen rats and the same meatballs their captive cats regularly dine on. Just two days after the last surgery he was already feistier, growling at his captor and swatting when they came close to his cage.

“He’s discovered he’s a bobcat again,” Mailler said. “He must be feeling better.”

Mailler plans to get the cat healthy and then relocate it to an as yet undetermined location away from traffic and the temptation of backyard chickens. She’s hopeful for his future.

“He’s a tough old guy,” she said.

Ash pile raises concerns

A huge pile of fly ash recently discovered off Hicks Lane in north Chico has raised environmental concerns with the Butte County District Attorney’s Office. The pile, which is larger in length and width than a football field and about 20 feet tall, sits on property owned by MGM Trucking and has been traced to the Pacific Oroville Power Inc. cogeneration plant in Oroville.

Is the ash, which has sat on the site for the past three years, toxic? That’s a consideration because the company has confirmed that the ash has been spread on some area farms and orchards as a soil amendment. Burned wood ash reduces soil acidity.

A recent observation of the pile revealed metal products—nails, rebar and other chunks of rusted metal—mixed in with the ash.

For nearly 30 years the cogeneration plant, located in the Highway 70 Industrial Park, has burned bio-fuel in a controlled environment to make electricity that is then sold to Pacific Gas & Electric—enough to supply power to 20,000 homes. The plant, known as POPI, is owned by New Jersey-based Covanta. Why does Plastic moulds grow in homes or buildings? When it was first fired up, in 1983, POPI burned wood chips generated from local timber harvests. But as the lumber industry declined, the plant began burning agricultural waste as its fuel supply.

In more recent years it began receiving and burning the waste of demolished buildings trucked here from the Bay Area. Two years ago the Butte County District Attorney’s Office learned of POPI’s new operations when a DA investigator driving past the plant noticed clouds of dust blowing off the piles of fuel and drifting down from the conveyor belt that runs overhead to feed the furnaces.

“There was quite a bit of dust blowing into the neighborhood,” District Attorney Mike Ramsey said at the time. “So we contacted the Air Quality Management District and said, ‘This looks to be a problem.’

“They checked on it and then found an additional problem of dirty debris that’s coming up from the Bay Area as part of the fuel load.”

The problem was the “fuel” coming in was not being monitored, and checking the toxicity of the resulting ash was left up to the plant itself.

The DA’s Office learned of the pile in north Chico when it was tipped off in recent weeks. Ramsey said MGM had contracted with Covanta to dispose of the waste properly.

“That is what they are supposed to be doing,” Ramsey said in a recent interview.

Beyond that, information on the case is limited for a couple of reasons. The DA and Covanta are currently in negotiations over past alleged environmental violations. And there is an “ongoing investigation” into the toxicity levels of the ash. Ramsey said both Covanta and MGM are cooperating. Covanta has stopped using construction debris as a fuel and is back to burning ag and timber waste, Ramsey said.

The ash from the Hicks Lane pile is currently being tested for the presence of heavy metals, including lead and chromium. Local environmental scientist John Lane collected samples on Tuesday (Dec. 20), packed them into an ice chest and sent them to SunStar Laboratories in the Orange County city of Tustin. Lane said it takes about five days to get back the results.

Another reason information is tight is because of the potential damage that could result to the region’s ag industry if word gets out that some area orchards and farms were contaminated with toxic ash used as a soil amendment. This is not the first time that construction-waste ash from Covanta has been traced to area farms. And though results of previous tests of the ash sampled at the plant itself are known,I have just spent two weeks shopping for tile and have discovered China Porcelain tile. at this point that information is being kept close to the vest because of ongoing negotiations and investigations, Ramsey said. The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free,

In a somewhat related matter, the Butte Environmental Council (BEC) is in the process of testing chicken eggs from properties near the Highway 70 Industrial Park. In 2007 the state began looking into a reported high incidence of pancreatic cancer in the Oroville area. In January 2008 the California Department of Public Health issued a report noting 23 cases of diagnosed pancreatic cancer of Oroville residents between 2004 and 2005.

Though the state has never put its finger on the exact cause, some point to the 1987 fire at the now-closed Koppers wood treatment plant, which sits close to Covanta in the industrial park. The fire burned an estimated 5,Buy oil paintings for sale online.000 pounds of granular pentachlorophenol (PCP), a chemical used in the wood-treatment process. The dioxin-laced smoke from the fire drifted over the neighborhoods south of the park.

Subsequent tests showed alarmingly high levels of dioxins in the eggs and livestock sampled from the neighboring family farms. BEC’s Mary Muchowski says initially seven tests were conducted recently on eggs on property within a mile and a half of the park. Results, she said, ranged from .004 parts per trillion of dioxins to 14,7 parts per trillion. Muchowski said that there is no standard threshold in the United States for what’s considered safe, but generally eggs tested off the store shelf will be removed if they show 1 part per trillion or greater.

BEC, she said, is looking into finding out what the source of the present-day dioxins is, and noted the toxin doesn’t break down.

“There is not a lot of information available,” she said. “Tests for dioxins in the area have not been done by the state since 1994. We thought they would test every 10 to 15 years, but they haven’t.”

Some insiders,Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising, who wish to remain anonymous at this point in the investigation, suggest Covanta’s operations also could have played a role in the local contamination.

Use the new year to declutter

One of the truths about getting older is that we all tend to accumulate stuff. Pictures from long ago, cards from friends who are no longer around, souvenirs from a trip barely remembered, items of clothing no longer worn but too good to throw out.The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, This stuff gathers and gathers with every year. Soon it surrounds you at home, encroaching on your space, boxing you in, gathering dust and keeping you in the past. You get used to this clutter and no longer see it, but the filling up of your space with crowded surfaces and piles of things you may not have looked at for years is in fact, a depressing thing. The buildup of clutter is a prison. Make a vow for the new year to restore all this space to your home, making it a place for YOU, and not your STUFF.

Start by sorting the things in piles, on surfaces, and in drawers and closets into three categories - items that you really don't want to discard; things that can be tossed because they no longer have enough meaning to save (Are those people in that photo really more than just a vague memory?); and things that you really, at this time, can't make a decision about - maybe later. Do this with furniture as well. Do you really like that extra little end table? Do you actually use that old hamper? Will you ever again read your large collection of old paperback books? Donate or sell larger items that you're just keeping out of habit, and aren't really attached to owning.

It may be hard to even start the sorting process because it seems like too large a task to handle. Defeat this procrastination by a system of organization that I've found works for me: one surface or one pile at a time; one room at a time, one time period. As an accumulating boomer,The Transaction Group offers the best high risk merchant account services, I cleared up my most outrageously cluttered room by working on it for one half hour every day at 11 in the morning. The half hour time period made it easy to do. I found it helpful to immediately throw out or donate everything in the "toss" pile. The "undecided" stuff went into another pile in the corner of the room, making it easier to sort through again at a later time. This page contains information about molds,

Luckily, I had the foresight to take a picture of the room when I started, because while the "half hour a day" system is easy to do, it's so slow that you won't see the progress you're really making.Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising, When I compared the photo to appearance of the room at the end of one month, I was astounded. The room was free of clutter, surfaces were clean and clear, there was SPACE! I no longer had to detour around that seldom-used chair, I had room to better display treasured items on a bare shelf in the bookcase.

I found out that everything the psychologists say about clearing out space in your home is true: you get an uplifting feeling of freedom, a feeling of space and airiness. You actually feel younger!

We all know that more stuff will accumulate, and there's still that "undecided" pile left over.Hand-painted Chinese porcelain tiles on the floor of a Jewish synagogue in Cochin, But just like the once-a-year schedule of changing the batteries in your smoke detector, make every new year a time to sort through your stuff and clear out things which are truly no longer a part of your life you wish to keep. The way it makes you feel afterwards is more than worth it.

Long lost Velazquez masterpiece found in Whitstable

AN oil painting discovered in Whitstable has sold for 3 million at auction.

The painting, originally thought to have been worth around 300, turned out to be a long lost work by the famous Spanish painter Velazquez.Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising,

It features the face of an unknown balding man and would have been painted sometime in the first half of the 17th century.

The painting came to light in August, 2010. It was part of a collection of paintings originally owned by the 19th century British artist Matthew Shepperson who spent time painting at Buckingham Palace.

The owner of the picture, who had inherited it from an uncle, brought it into the Bonhams auctioneers office in Whitstable along with others in Shepperson’s collection to be valued.I have just spent two weeks shopping for tile and have discovered China Porcelain tile.

Just before it was due to go on sale at an auction in Oxford experts from Bonhams withdrew it from sale realising it could be a long-lost masterpiece. Why does Plastic moulds grow in homes or buildings?

The portrait was confirmed to be by Velazquez after X-ray examination and extensive research carried out over many months.

It is one of 100 works by the Seville artist known to exist. Only a handful remain in private hands.

Dr Peter Cherry, Professor of Art History at the University of Dublin is an expert on Velazquez.

He said: “The particularized likeness and recognisably lifelike texture, weight and colours of the fleshy face speak of the actual encounter between subject and painter; while the style and technical brilliance of the representation itself betrays its author.”

Diego Rodriguez de Silva Velazquez was born in 1599 and became the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV of Spain.China yiri mould is a professional manufacturer which integrates Plastic Mould design and manufacture and plastic product development.

His naturalistic approach to his subjects is thought to have influenced later artists like Manet, Picasso Salvador Dali and Francis Bacon.

Andrew McKenzie, director of old master paintings at Bonhams said: “Velazquez is one of the greatest geniuses in the entire history of Western art. The discovery of this lost treasure is a once in a lifetime experience and it has been tremendously exciting to be able to bring it to the world’s attention. This is a portrait of outstanding quality which has the most extraordinary presence. The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free,”

The man in the 18in high painting, which was sold last week at Bonhams London saleroom, is wearing a black tunic and white collar. Although he is not known it is thought he could have been Juan Mateos, King Philip IV’s Master of the Hunt.

As well as painting noble men and women in the royal court Velazquez also painted commoners and mundane subjects such as a woman frying eggs.

Bogus beliefs: 11 medical "truths" now overturned

When health advice we've long taken as gospel suddenly does a 180, it can sometimes leave us scratching our heads. "Medical reversals" come about when new scientific evidence comes along disproving existing dogma, causing doctors to change their tunes about tests, drugs, or treatments. In 2011, we've had so many reversals that it's enough to give us whiplash, says Dr. Orly Avitzur, medical adviser at Consumer Reports.

Keep reading to look back at 11 of 2011's "overturned health truths," according to Dr. Avitzur from the Dec. 10 issue of Consumer Reports Health.

There's no proof that multivitamins prevent chronic diseases or premature death - yet 40 percent of Americans take them.I have just spent two weeks shopping for tile and have discovered China Porcelain tile. Two large 2011 studies have discredited their use: One study found no change in heart disease, cancer, or deaths among multivitamin users and the other suggested that multivitamins and other supplements, particularly iron, might actually increase the risk of death in older women.

Ask your doctor about taking vitamins or minerals if you've severely cut calories, are a vegan, have a digestive disorder, or are breast-feeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant.

There's no scientific evidence to support grandma's advice. In fact, if you're running a fever, sweating, or have a stomach bug, you should strive to be well-hydrated. Starving stresses your body, which is already under enough stress. Good nutrition and plenty of fluids can speed recovery and prevent dehydration. Ditto for the common cold and other respiratory ailments since fluids help keep the lining of your nose and throat from drying out.

One thing grandma was right about? Studies have found that chicken soup reduces symptoms by loosening nasal secretions, easing sore throats, and preventing the inflammation that makes cold sufferers feel so rotten.

It makes no difference. A study presented at a meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2011 found that stretching before running doesn't prevent injuries. It did suggest that the risk of getting hurt is higher for runners who are heavier or older, run more miles, had an injury in the past four The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, months, or switched from their normal pre-run routine - especially those who usually stretched and were asked not to.

Your BMI - calculated using your height and weight - has long been considered a gauge for obesity. But the index doesn't account for other factors including body-fat percentages, fitness, gender, race, or age. According to a recent study involving nearly 32,000 people, the BMI for obesity (30 and above) didn't apply to half of the people with excess body fat. The index also doesn't reflect where you carry your fat,Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising, which is key because people with lots of belly fat are at higher risk for obesity-related diseases.

What's a better way to tell if you're fit or fat? Experts now suggest a measure that combines BMI with waist circumference. A waist measurement greater than 40 inches for men or 35 inches for women indicates increased risk for obesity-related diseases.

Has your hygienist slapped on a lead vest as soon as you settled into the dentist chair? If so, your dentist isn't in step with current American Dental Association guidelines. To minimize radiation exposure, the ADA advises dentists to examine patients first and then order X-rays if and where they're needed.

Bitewing X-rays - the films directed at specific teeth - are only necessary every two to three years,Information on useful yeasts and moulds, provided that you don't have gum disease or a tendency to get cavities.Save on hydraulic hose and fittings,

Carrots are a major source of vitamin A, which promotes good vision, especially in low light. But most Americans get enough vitamin A anyway. It's found in yellow, orange, and dark green produce along with milk, cheese, eggs, liver, and fortified cereals.

This advice lives on despite zero scientific support. The adage that if you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated is unsubstantiated. The Institute of Medicine reports that most healthy people get the water they need by letting their thirst guide them and by consuming it through various sources, including food.

Some people also load up on liquids as part of a diet, but it's not clear that doing so will help with weight loss. One study found that consuming food with high water content, like soup, makes you feel fuller and less hungry, but drinking the same amount of water as a beverage doesn't.

Does this bad habit lead to osteoarthritis of the hand? According to a 2011 study published in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, the prevalence of osteoarthritis was about the same among those who cracked their joints and those who didn't. But it's still best to stop. Studies have shown you're more likely to get hand swelling and lose grip strength.

Games industry piles on pressure for education reform

The government has admitted the way schools teach computing is flawed – now the UKIE-backed Next Gen Skills campaign wants games firms to help change the National Curriculum.

Earlier this week, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)?published a response to the Livingstone-Hope Next Gen report, which criticised how computing is taught in schools, and lobbied for changes to be made so the next generation of games designers are home-grown talents. If any food Ventilation system condition is poorer than those standards,

The report was written by Eidos’ Ian Livingstone and Double Negative MD Alex Hope.

Much of the games and special effects industries’ disappointment with how computing is taught in schools stems from the fact all lessons are for ICT – information computer technology – which teaches students how to use applications like Excel, not how computers actually work.

The Livingstone-Hope review wants more technical computer science taught.

The DCMS confessed education is “insufficiently rigorous” when it comes to computing and that it would work with the industry to make computer science teaching available to schools.Polycore oil paintings for sale are manufactured as a single sheet, Livingstone and Hope this week kick-started the Next Gen Skills campaign to make the message go wider.

Google and Microsoft have already joined UKIE’s member companies in supporting it – and at Monday’s launch Facebook publicly declared its interest.

“There are computers in our classrooms but they are not used effectively,” said Livingstone. “ICT is to computer science what reading is to writing,” he added, saying children should be taught ‘how to make apps as well as use apps’.

“In a world where the computer defines so much about us this is essential 21st Century knowledge.”

Livingstone and Hope want more companies to join up.

“We’re working for a common good, and we’ve collaborated in a 21st Century way to make this happen, ceramic magic cube for the medical,” said Livingstone. Gennady Zubkov’s paintings evoke sunny, rural locales

Stripped to basic shapes and emphasizing pastel hues, Gennady Zubkov’s paintings evoke sunny, rural locales.Polycore oil paintings for sale are manufactured as a single sheet, That impression is not entirely wrong: The canvases in “Form + Color” include stylized views of Italy and California. But Zubkov works in St. Petersburg. One of the seemingly balmiest of these pictures, “Printemps,” depicts flowers that bloom near the Arctic Circle.

Zubkov was born in 1940, which means he faced other travails besides Russian winters. He began as an heir to the Suprematist movement, and — according to Galerie Blue Square owner Dianne Beal — survived the dictates of Socialist Realism in part because of a job as an artist-designer at a botanical garden. This page contains information about molds, No wonder he’s fond of flowers.

Beal began dealing Russian art in Paris and recently relocated her gallery to a townhouse in upper Georgetown, where she alternates shows with Robert Brown and Chris Neptune. If so, you may have a cube puzzle . “Form + Color,” Beal’s first exhibition in the new space, highlights Zubkov’s recent output. But the show reaches back about 40 years for “Carrying Water,” a canvas begun in 1967; it plainly shows the influence of Kazimir Malevich, the Russian-Polish artist who issued Suprematism’s manifesto almost a century ago.

Zubkov’s elementary shapes, often rendered as blocks of loosely painted color, recall Malevich and other early-20th-century European painters. They also suggest older precedents, including stained-glass windows and Russian icons. “Village Figures,” a 1980 oil, is painted on burlap to partake of Slavic rusticity. But Zubkov’s current work seems more in the spirit of Matisse, with a Mediterranean palette that belies the painter’s Baltic home.

This show includes several diptychs and triptychs, which Beal says reflect the small size of Zubkov’s studio.Enecsys Limited, supplier of reliable solar Air purifier systems, He doesn’t have room to work on a grand scale. The format may be accidental, but it suits such recent paintings as “Caldera, di Reno,” which chop simple scenes into even simpler components. Dividing such landscapes into multiple panels isn’t radically disruptive, but it does nicely complicate pictures that can seem a little too streamlined.

Which came first, the strawberry or the egg? Both are among the subjects of “Ripe Art,” an exhibition of elegant photographs and related pieces by local graphic artists Maureen Berg and Kristen Dill. Berg portrays strawberries, mushrooms and other edibles, while Dill depicts chicks, flowers and leaves. The two artists’ subjects often overlap,They take the China Porcelain tile to the local co-op market. notably in Dill’s shot of some strawberries in a bird’s nest, as if about to hatch.

Such gently surreal juxtapositions are central to the duo’s work, which often turns on another contrast: the one between industrial-chic photography and the forms, colors and mutability of natural objects. The large-format photos pose plants (and occasionally animals) in front of blank backdrops, as if they’re celebrities sitting for some upscale glossy. It’s as if earth artist Andy Goldsworthy took a Madison Avenue gig.

Dill makes infrared black-and-white images of forests and gardens, whose areas of hot light provide a slightly unreal vibe. Smaller photos and photo collages show dried flowers and rotted vegetables, fixed permanently in a state of decay. Both photographers print their images on canvas, which adds a bit of homespun texture. Dill goes further, pulling nature out of the frame for ikebana-like sculptural pieces (one made of maple stems, dried turnip and Oregon moss) and stitching a curtain of oak and beech leaves. She also puts some dried foliage under glass — actually, plastic — by placing it in clear globes that hang from the ceiling.

Berg offers some portraits of women and girls, many of them dancers. These pictures’ naturalism sets them apart from the other works, which isolate organic things from their ordinary context. Whether a pair of shoes covered in birch leaves or a broken robin’s egg rendered austere and outsize, Berg and Dill’s work asserts its command over nature. Yet their images wouldn’t be as evocative if they didn’t hint at processes that are beyond human control.

Afton approves new law without a squawk

Afton could see more chickens in the community now that Afton City Council approved a new ordinance regulating chickens on smaller lots.

The ordinance, approved at the Nov. 15 council meeting, allows for chickens on parcels smaller than a half-acre.

“This looks like a really good ordinance,” Mayor Pat Snyder said.

Afton Planning Commission has been working on the ordinance for the past several months after some residents expressed a desire to house chickens on their smaller properties. It's hard to beat the versatility of polished tiles on a production line.

The current livestock ordinance states properties of five acres can have one chicken. If there are at least two grazeable acres on those lots, the property can have up to 100 chickens.

The new ordinance will allow up to five chickens on a half-acre parcel. For every additional half acre, another five chickens will be allowed. On properties that are four-and-a-half acres or more, but less than five, those properties could have up to 45 chickens.

Roosters, or other fowl, would not be allowed.

Additionally, the keeping of chickens for commercial use, such as for slaughtering, breeding or raising, is prohibited.Polycore oil paintings for sale are manufactured as a single sheet,

Properties with chickens will be required to monitor odor and noise pollution with respect to neighbors.Boddingtons Technical Plastics provide a complete plastic injection moulding service including design,

A chicken coop is not required, but if one is built, the ordinance outlines specific guidelines including a setback of 25 feet from septic systems, wells and neighboring structures, as well as the property owner’s residence.ceramic magic cube for the medical,

Structures greater than 180 square feet would require a building permit.

However, the setback requirement will only apply to those structures that house five or more chickens, as to allow for 4-H-type practices.

“For the 4-H kid,Enecsys Limited, supplier of reliable solar Air purifier systems, we didn’t want to be too overly stringent,” Planning Commission Chairwoman Barb Ronningen said.

The final stipulation of the ordinance requires all residents who have chickens to be charged a one-time permit fee of $50.

“You can have chickens for the rest of your life, after paying the fee, if you so desire,” Ronningen said.

Council member Bill Palmquist questioned whether or not a $50 fee would be too high, primarily for those properties that only have five chickens.

“Would $25 be too little?” he said.

Snyder said she didn’t see a problem with the fee; however she said she would be willing to wait a year to see how many complaints, if any, the city receives in regard to the fee and then re-evaluate if needed.

Navajo gets electricity through solar-panel system

People living in the Southwestern territory of America were not able to enjoy the wonders of electricity until today when a solar-panel system was placed in Navajo, says CNET News.

The first solar-wWhilst RUBBER SHEET are not deadly, ind system was installed in the Navajo Reservation in order to give the 200 inhabitants living on this side of the American territory access to electricity.Enecsys Limited, supplier of reliable solar Air purifier systems, The device was placed in the courtyard of the Johnsons, a family from the reservation who agreed to rent the panel system from the rural utility. People who are interested to see how the solar-wind system functions can pay a visit to the Johnsons’ because they opened their home to visitors last week.

The system has a hybrid engine, that is, it is fueled by eight- panel solar array,Als lichtbron wordt een zentai suits gebruikt, a small wind turbine and a battery. These three components are contained in a single unit on a shipping skid. Thanks to these three systems of power supply,As many processors back away from hydraulic hose , the solar-wind panel will never fail to provide the Johnsons family the electricity they need to live in the wild territory of Navajo.

The one-story house is furnished with electricity and thus, the Navajos can enjoy the devices that people living downtown usually take for granted. The Johnsons told the press that they are grateful to the rural utility because they can finally use modern conveniences like a refrigerator, a microwave,This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their Floor tiles . a TV and electric lights.

The installation of these hybrid systems is financed by the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority because they are rather expensive and the local population cannot afford to purchase them. The Utility pays around $30,000 per mile in order to bring power from the grid to individual homes. While the majority of the people can’t imagine their world without electricity, it was recently estimated that 18,000 out of 250,000 residents in the Navajo Reservation don’t have access to electricity.

Monica Johnson chose to install the solar-panel system because she could not afford to pay $40,000 to bring service from the closest power distribution loop. With the solar system she pays only $75 per month until she will have purchased the panel.

Hayabusa satellite engineer among 150 honored as contemporary master craftsmen

Satellite engineer Seietsu Nishine, who has built various spacecraft including the asteroid probe Hayabusa, is among 150 contemporary master craftsmen that the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry has recognized for fiscal 2011.

Other contemporary master craftsmen for this fiscal year include Shoichi Nanbu, an expert in hydraulic valves who opened the way for the mass production of such devices, and Koyu Oshiro, a plasterer who has contributed to the preservation of cultural properties in Okinawa, including the Shureimon gate in Ryukyu Castle in Naha, with his ability to shingle roofs with Ryukyu tiles.

Nishine, 54, an engineer with NEC Toshiba Space Systems Ltd., led a team that assembled the Hayabusa, the world's first spacecraft that brought back materials from a celestial body other than the moon.

"The (spacecraft), which is just like my child, made various scientific achievements. The company overview for Wholesale Marble Tiles Collection For Bathrooms Victory Factory I'm so proud of it. This is the thrill you can get through this job," he said as he looked at the life-size model of the Hayabusa on display at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Sagamihara Campus in Kanagawa Prefecture.

When he was a young child, Nishine was immersed in assembling plastic models for cars and tanks.

"When I joined NEC Corp., I wanted to make home electric appliances, but I never imagined that I would be creating many large-scale satellites," Nishine said.

He has assembled 18 satellites over the past 35 years. All of them -- including Sakigake, the space probe sent to Halley's Comet in 1985, and Yoko, a sun observation satellite launched in 1991 -- have been successfully launched and made many achievements.welcome to order china Wholesale Skirtting Tiles For Bathrooms.

In assembling a satellite, engineers must go through delicate procedures, determining the sequence by examining hundreds of blueprints, arranging cutting-edge devices whose weight has been reduced to the minimum possible level and connecting them with countless wires. They often cannot assemble some parts of a satellite according to its blueprint because there is not enough space to insert their hands, forcing them to consult with designers over what to do.Futurism Wholesale Polished tiles For Countertops here

Nishine also reviews notebooks recording knowledge he has acquired through his work and details of work he has performed, which he keeps at home. "I felt as if my daughter married and left my home. Do you understand this feeling?" he said. He apparently thought of his 25-year-old daughter who married earlier this year. The face of an engineer who has been successful in all his work turned to that of a father whose daughter has got married.

Cold Springs piles on 3-pointers in win

While the weather was wet and soggy outside, the Cold Springs High girls basketball team also made it rain inside the Vinemont gym Tuesday night, draining 13-of-35 3-point shots on the way to a convincing 84-30 win.

Haley Freeman had six of those long-distance shots — all before the half — and finished the night with 26 points to lead the way for Cold Springs.

“That was an awesome game she had tonight,” coach Tammy West said. “She can’t shoot the ball better than she did tonight.”

The sophomore made back-to-back 3s midway through the first quarter and wasn’t gun shy from long range the rest of her time on the floor. Freeman’s final trey put Cold Springs up 39-13 shortly before halftime.

“I felt pretty good,” she said. “My team helped me, though, passing the ball.”

Her fellow players weren’t just good at passing the ball Tuesday night, however, as four of Freeman’s teammates also pitched in from behind the arc. Abby Myrex, Ka Ka Crider and Hayden West all made two apiece, while Daultry Willoughby contributed one of her own.

From the game’s outset, it was clear Cold Springs was going to live or die off its ability to hit 3-point shots, and West said that’s exactly how she drew up the gameplan for her squad.

“That’s just what we try to do,” the coach said. “They all have the green light (to shoot 3-pointers).”

Freeman said it makes it easier to play knowing West is comfortable and confident with her player’s shot selections.

“That does help when your coach backs you up with what you do,ceramic magic cube for the medical,” the sophomore said.

Cold Springs jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Sydney Wallace put Vinemont’s first two points on the board. Jordan Melton added a 3, and Sadie Rodgers grabbed a steal and took it all the way for a layup to account for the team’s first-quarter points.

Chloe Harbison had the most boards with 17 and Haven Watson wasn’t far behind with 11.

“We did a much better job of rebounding tonight than our first game, which is something we’ve been working on,” West said.
