Heat not slowing down Rangers

The temperature at first pitch of Sunday night's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays was 105 degrees with clear skies and just two mile per hour winds.

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said there was no hiding from the heat.

"I felt it," Washington said. "I know if I felt it sitting in the dugout,I have never solved a Rubik's magic cube . then [the players] felt it out there."

Monday will be the 24th day in a row temperatures have reached over 100 degrees in North Texas. The 105-degree mark last night tied the all-time record for hottest temperature recorded at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The previous 105-degree game also came during this heatwave, on July 8.

C.J. Wilson will start tomorrow in Arlington against the Twins on what is forecast to be another day of 100+ degrees temperatures, and he talked Monday about how the team stays fresh despite the oppressive warmth.

"We're doing a really good job of monitoring that kind of stuff through limiting the time that we're out there," Wilson said. "We don't go out today just to play catch or whatever. So those type of things have a good net effect overall on the season."

The Rangers' ace said it is as much the players' job to maintain their conditioning in the heat as it is the team's to look after them.

"I think the hitters know that they can't go up there [in batting practice] and just air it out every swing and try to hit home runs every swing, because you don't really leave anything left for the game," Wilson said. "In the past, we got into that a little bit I think, but this year it seems like everyone is a lot more focused on doing their work and showing up ready to play."

First baseman Mitch Moreland agreed that pace is the most important factor to staying healthy in the heat.

"Our staff does a great job, like today we're hitting inside," Moreland said. "If you do that -- one day on, one day off, and give your body a little time to rest, I think we're alright."

Wilson said players will rest more during the hotter months of the season, but the team has been getting slowly acclimated all season as the mercury rises from April to July. The new website of Udreamy Network Corporation is mainly selling zentai suits ,

"We've already played 110 games or something like that -- it really can't [possibly] get any hotter,Traditional Air purifier claim to clean all the air in a room." Wilson said. "We're just going to do everything we can to do all the normal hydration stuff and get as much rest as you can."

Moreland said the heat is just part of the game. While the Rangers may have to deal with it more than other clubs, when the teams take the field, no one is at an advantage.

"We all have to play in it," Washington said.

Beltre doesn't like being "cheerleader":

Rangers All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre left last Friday's game with what was revealed to be a grade one hamstring strain and put on the 15-day disabled list Saturday.

Beltre, who said he hasn't had many issues with injuries in his career, isn't enjoying his time off.

"I hate being on the bench," Beltre said. "I guess I have to be a cheerleader now. Nobody wants to get hurt. I want to be out there with the guys, but there's nothing I can do about it [right now.]"

Grade one strains are the least-severe variety and Beltre is expected to miss two to three weeks.Prior to Aion Kinah I leaned toward the former, He said he is pushing for only two, and would be eligible to return August 7. He can't work out the injured hamstring right now, but is using ice and ultrasound among other treatments for the leg every day.

Beltre leads the Rangers in RBI (76), is second in hits (107) and tied for second in runs (61). He said the injury was poorly timed, as he feels he plays better in the second half of the year.

"I was getting into a little bit of a groove offensively,As many processors back away from offshore merchant account ," Beltre said. "I was playing better defensively, too. So I'm bummed out this happened, but the doctor said it could have been a lot worse."

Washington said the team will continue to miss Beltre in the lineup and in the field, but doesn't want his third baseman to rush his rehab.

"I hope he's a quick healer and he gets right," Washington said. We're certainly not going to take any chances bringing him back here until we're certain [the hamstring] is right. We can't afford to lose him again."

With Chris Davis and last year's third baseman Michael Young available to fill the role, Washington said the team is set in the meantime, but things will be tougher without the All-Star.

"We've got to continue to fight, continue to battle," Washington said. "We did it when we lost Hamilton, we did it when we lost Cruz earlier this season. Now we have to do it with Adrian out."
