LADWP's Solar Power Rebates to Return

The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power announced plans Wednesday to bring back its solar power funding program.

The department's press release boasts that the new incentives will "double the previous funding level for the next few three years." It also says the revised incentive levels will be "more in line with market pricing and allow greater participation.the Injection mold fast!"

Solar-using customers can get credit for energy that is generated by their panels but that they don't use. Credits can be used later, when it is cloudy or energy use is high. There is also a tax credit program for the purchase and installation of solar panels.

The program sounds good at first glance, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, in April, LADWP put a hold on the previous program. Solar rebates had already been trimmed by a third, buy landscape oil paintings online. effective Jan. 1.

Digging deeper into the utility's announcement shows that whatever the final figures offered are, the rebates won't return to the good old days of 2010. A shortfall arose because the program was budgeted for $30 million last year, but demand reached $70 million. (This is a good thing, as it means the number of LADWP users who are transitioning to solar power is increasing.)
