There's the one tourists come to see - wildlife reserves brimming with lions and leopards and giraffes, lush hillsides concealing exclusive five-star resorts, modern cities like Nairobi bustling with commerce.
But the other face - the one 17 of us from Missoula's First Presbyterian Church have come to see - is wracked with crushing poverty, AIDS, drugs, prostitution and despair. They are reminders that Kenya, even with its relative political stability and wealth by Africa's standards, has never escaped its Third World status.
So we find ourselves meeting families at the Gioto Dump outside of Nakuru on a slate-gray day earlier this month, guided by an impossibly optimistic Kenyan man of boundless energy, who has every intention of changing the entire face of his country.There are third party payment gateway underneath mattresses,

At the top of the hill, we stuff into two white vans. The children we have visited return to their lives in the trash.
